Glad people are calling this matchup one of Hero’s best despite it may being difficult to grasp at first.

For top player opinions, Yonni and Ddee think this mu is slightly losing for Steve, both saying it’s -0.5 which equates to 6/4 in the eventhubs voting system, while Hero players like Akakikusu (best hero in Japan) thinks it’s +0.5 which equates to both Yonni and DDee’s opinions while Ant (Hero from Utah) and +HOPE+ (Hero from Denmark) thinks it’s as bad as +2 in Hero’s favour which equates to 7/3.

The reason is pretty much because of the advantages they get from Camping and resource gathering each being so skewed in Hero’s favour. Hero’s buffs from his command section pretty much allow him to force Steve to approach as his buffs are better then Steve’s diamond tools, especially Bounce which nullifies a lot of Steve’s most important tools like down throw, dair, Minecart, TNT and even d tilt. Hero also seriously messes up Steve’s approach, as his sword outranges Steve’s own moves and short hop and grounded Zapple and neutral b/Kafriz cover all of the angles Steve can approach from and also destroy blocks. Because of this, Hero takes neutral and damage racking as he is more likely to actually damage Steve. Offstage is also similarly tricky as if Hero gets zoom, Steve misses his entire chance to come back into the game if he doesn’t have the lead. They both edgeguard each other openly and evenly, but I still have to give Hero the edge slightly just because I think his edguearding can most likely lead to a kill, like a ledge slip up b into whatever plus his dair 2 frames Steve, as well as if he has bounce Steve can’t throw anything out at Hero that is a projectile. Steve does have a way better punish game however, so if Hero doesn’t play perfectly, Steve can get a huge opening in a percent lead and plank offstage with block cancel up smash stuff (Idek how it works, but it looks painful to deal with)

Overall, I vote 6/4.
