Banjo-Kazooie definitely don’t win this matchup.

From the B&K mains, Tearbear thinks Isabelle slightly wins, while Ddee thinks it’s even. On the Isabelle side, Axel thinks this matchup is REALLY good for Isabelle, with him thinking it’s +2 while Zercon thinks it’s +1 in Isabelle’s favour.

The main reason I definitely think the duo don’t win is because of Pocket. Without Rear Egg, they really can’t do anything. They both lose a combo starter, kill confirmer and great neutral tool to stuff Isabelle’s approach. This then forces them to approach Isabelle, where they’re approach is hard as they lack the frame data and air speed, where while they have good ground speed, they’re dashback is terrible and they’re walk isn’t very good, so they can get hit by stuff they try to space around to get closer. Plus, Isabelle has way better shield pressure, as her moves are way safer and she has way better oos options then the duo, plus her aerial prowess is way better then the Duo’s as well. Isabelle’s fishing rod also grabs through Wonderwing, and while theoretically Isabelle can grab the duo when they use it, it’s just not reliable as no good Banjo-Kazooie player will mindlessly use Wonderwing in neutral, and in general, the move isn’t a big threat to Isabelle as she’s either to far away to get hit by it, or she’s in the air. One good thing for the duo, however, is that Bair is very good for a mixup approach option as it eats through slightshot. Isabelle then stuffs B&J’s approach, and with the advantage and hits she gets from theoretical zoning and from neutral, she takes damage racking to as the Duo have no punish game, relying on awful raw hits that do upwards of no damage. Isabelle is floaty, and like in a lot of mus, she can get juggled where Uair is pretty good for the duo when they gain this initiative, as it’s good at juggling Isabelle/beating out her landing options, and outranges her dair, and bair is very good at frame trapping her. Ledgetrapping and edgeguarding is even. I think overall recovery, I’d give to Isabelle, as her recovery goes further, but edgeguarding is in Banjo’s favour imo as the duo not only have amazing 2 framing but just have so much to throw at Isabelle and she can’t throw anything back. Isabelle can somewhat edgeguard the duo, and her fishing rod can catch Wonderwing, plus she has lloyd to ledgetrap, but platforms can help the duo get out of disadvantage pretty well, where they can do the same in return to her.

Overall, I vote 4/6, but this matchup is somewhere between 47- 43 for the duo in a loss, and 53-57 in favour of Isabelle. So if you vote even, I can agree.

(Both are online, yea, but I think both character are still equal in placement or better online and there are no good offline vods at least that I can find)
