Ness vs. Pikachu Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tiers, match-up votes and discussion

Pikachu's other losing matchup, with Mr. Game and Watch as well as debatably Mario (Esam and Shinymark agree, as do Ness mains like Lumbre, PeW, and S1.)

Ness wins neutral more consistently due to his great hitboxes and frame data stuffing his approaches and still hitting it despite it's short hurtbox. It also can't use t jolts as PSI magnet absorbs them and it can't mash on Ness's shield as Ness's oos aerials and up smash hit a pancaking Pikachu. Ness also has a way better time killing as all his aeirals outrange Pikachu's and kill it early and his back throw can catch Pikachu who choose to shield camp and parry his aerials at kill percent. Pikachu also can't edgeguard Ness to well, only able being to throw t jolts out to harass Ness. If it goes in to deep for an edgeguard it can't get it can die really early off of a stage spike or a trip to the blastzone by PKT2.

It's not as bad as Mr. Game and Watch due to Pikachu's juggling being very good on Ness and it being able to run away/QA away from Ness if it has a lead due to Ness's slow speed. It can also still edgeguard Ness if it plays it right, killing Ness very early where it can run away if it wants to. Ness also 2 frames Pikachu really easily with his yoyo Smash Attacks and can harass Pikachu offstage with PKT1 (the bolt) and force it to go the ledge.

This is one of the matchups that also didn't get better for Pikachu after the discovery of Uair bridges. This matchup is not as hard as Mr. Game and Watch for Pikachu, but it still gives Pikachu some struggle. I vote 6/4.
