One of Jigglypuff’s better mid tier matchups.

Despite M2 having a better neutral, Jigglypuff takes it here. Shadowball isn’t good at stopping Puff’s approaches in the air and because of M2’s slow DJ, it can’t air to air very well, and pound actually outranges a lot of its attempts to anti air due to its tail.

Puff’s advantage state is outstanding in this matchup and the main reason she wins. M2’s combination of being huge and light is something Puff can very much take advantage of very well. It’s combos, tech chases and kill confirms all work wonders on M2. Dair loops, pound combos and rest confirms are really hard for M2 to escape from. It has no good breakers and It’s so big, SDI won’t help it. Routinely, M2 is going to be taking at least 40% to 60% off one hit against a good Jigglypuff. In that range, it’s already at kill percent because of how light it is, rest will kill it with the right confirms at 40%. Dair rest percentages are on M2 and kill him incredibly early, not to mention she can hold forward with an aerial to put M2 into a tech position, where it has a lot of trouble escaping song traps due to it’s tail affecting its tech roll, meaning Puff can get another really early kill with Sing Uair Rest.

Edguearding, recovery and ledgetrapping are also in Puff’s favour, but M2 can do it’s own thing. Teleport recoveries have a 5 frame window to be hit Instead if 2, meaning Pound is very easy to land on a M2 trying grab the ledge. Puff can then combo that into any of her aerials to start the painful cycle all over again. Her ledgetrapping also works wonders because M2’s options can be reacted to, especially roll. M2 can do the same as if it forces puff to go low, it can ledgetrap her, but it can’t edgeguard her at all if she goes high.

So with how Puff absolutely destroys M2 in disadvantage probably the hardest in the game, wins neutral and edgeguards and ledgetraps very easily, she takes this MU. It’s not worse because M2 has its strengths like really good kill power, good at catching landings etc but Puff’s strengths outshine it’s own strengths. I vote 6/4.

I forgot to say credit to u/firemoom99 for the explanation. He explained all of this, said I should post this here and I just copy and pasted it. He’s a really good jigglpyuff player from the subreddit where people misinterpret this matchup and think it’s in Mewtwo’s favour.
