Captain Falcon vs. Luigi Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tiers, match-up votes and discussion

This mu is pretty annoying for Captain Falcon due to the monstrosity difference in damage racking and advantage state in this matchup. In terms of top player opinion, Fatality agrees Captain falcon loses slightly and Elegant and Kiyarash believes Luigi wins slightly.

The neutral here is pretty even. Captain Falcon does have the speed advantage, but similar to Fox, Luigi’s mix of fair and zair zoning does restrict his speed, and this is more apparent with CF as his back dash is really bad. Luigi’s better frame data and oos option give him the advantage up close, but I’m gonna give CF the mid range here as Raptor Boost is a great whiff punish tool here if Luigi goes for an option he can’t get. CF also has much better plat camping then Fox which also helps if he does the lead. The main turning point in this matchup is, however, damage racking and advantage state. Captain Falcon doesn’t have the great juggling of Fox here and the great cyclone whiff punish move here like Fox up smash, so his advantage state is significantly worse here. Luigi breaks all of CF’s IDJ combos with down b, as well being able to almost zero to death CF off a single grab or do over 60 to 80 with a single loose string off a landing aerial or even u tilt. Offstage is even as they both edgeguard each other equally hard, but ledgetrapping I think Luigi has a slight advantage as he has his spammable 2 frame able d tilt and he has more option against CF’s general options off of ledge.

So due to Luigi’s slightly better advantage state and way better punish game/damage racking, he takes this matchup. It’s not worse as almost everything else in the matchup is even. I vote 4/6.
