Bowser vs. Samus Super Smash Bros. Brawl tiers, match-up votes and discussion

While Bowser and Samus are two of the worst characters in Brawl, the advantage in their matchup is surprisingly clear.
Samus has the advantage in neutral. Because of Bowser's very slow movement, it's a cake walk for Samus to outzone him with Grapple Beam and Missiles. Bowser, thus, has a stupidly rough approach. But that's not all: because of Bowser's size and frame data disadvantage (thus eliminating his potential advantage in close range boxing), a lot of Samus's combos, especially up air strings, work like a charm. And after a combo, Samus can just retreat to the other side of the stage and resume her zoning. While Bowser has an undeniable power advantage, Samus takes damage racking by a mile. Recovery and edge guarding also work out piss-poor for Bowser; Samus has her bomb jump to remain far away and out of the range of Bowser's fair and bair, and Bowser has no options whatsoever to edge guard Samus if she recovers from below. If he tries drop zone fair or bair, Samus can drop off the ledge and immediately punish. On the other hand, if Bowser is the one sent offstage, Samus makes his day hell with zair and Missiles. If Bowser air dodges the Missiles (homing missiles are actually really good in this matchup), Samus gets time to set up bomb traps at the ledge. Bowser has to recover low against Samus, because otherwise he will take a bair (one of Samus' few kill moves), fsmash, or Charge Shot. So in summary, while OoS Whirling Fortress, a few more applicable moves in neutral, and considerably higher power in those applicable moves doesn't make Bowser as solid a win for Samus as Ganondorf, her ability to shut down his approach, nickel and dime him with her zoning tools, and stuff his offstage presence makes her a menace to the Koopa King.
