Mario vs. Meta Knight Super Smash Bros. 4 tiers, match-up votes and discussion

It's sort of ironic that while Meta Knight is arguably Mario's worst matchup in Brawl, Mario is Meta Knight's worst matchup in this game. Dark Wizzy, Rice, and cane believe Mario counters Meta Knight, and even more ironically, Rags believes that Mario hard counters Meta Knight. The other Mario and Meta Knight mains believe that Mario soft counters Meta Knight, with the consensus being 67/33.

My theory as to why it's so bad is that because Meta Knight is slower and has less range on his staple moves, he can't space Mario out as hard. He is vulnerable to Mario's new combos, and he can't edgeguard Mario that well since Mario has among the safest recoveries in the game. Fireballs also give Meta Knight some difficulty in approaching, as well as being able to set up into combos. Either way, this is one matchup that will forever make Meta Knight's transitional nerfs infamous.
