You do realize that Ike has his own counter and has better frame data than Shulk does, right? Ike will typically not go for a forward air or dash attack against Shulk because of vision; rather, he will often go for a jab cancel into a down tilt, which allows him to capitalize further. That's my theory as to how the matchup goes. As for in tournaments, Tremendo Dude lost 0-2 to Ryo, and Nicko lost one game to SM. A compilation of SSB4 universal matchup charts averaged Ike/Shulk at respectively 55/45.
I do not agree that this is in ANY way in Ike's favor for one main reason: Vision. This means that if Ike tries to Ftilt/Dash Attack/Fair at 110%+ he will die. I'm aware of the U-throw U-air airdodge read, but here's the thing: You first get frisked for said airdodges at 80% - And his u-air doesn't kill until 120%+. That, or Ike will have to wait until 160%+ (d-throw) to even have a shot at killing Shulk without being countered.
Also, thanks to Jump and Speed arts: Shulk annihilates Ike offstage. You snag Ike out of his side-B once when he's offstage (or again: Vision at roughly 100%+), and he dies.
