Hugo vs. Rolento Ultra Street Fighter 4 tiers, match-up votes and discussion

This is by FAR Hugo's worst matchup, all you have to do is that roll move on Hugo, he honestly can't do ANYTHING because he can never punish it. This is litterally a 9-1 matchup. Trust me.. play a good Rolento... one that KNOWS the character inside out and knows the Hugo matchup... you can only PRAY to win. This matchup is a nightmare.

Roll has ZERO invincibility and Offline is easily reacted to and punished before you even hit him.

Also just because you can't punish 1 move doesn't mean it's 9-1. Honda would have a lot of 9-1 match-ups and that's false.

This match-up is easily in hugo's favor. Rolento has no Invincible reversal that doesn't get hit by H.clap OS so getting one knockdown is usually enough to win the round. All rolento's hop gimmicks can be beaten with st.hp or BB. The 2 things rolento has going for him in this match-up are his st.HP and his Air mp. Especially his st.HP can be a problem because it hits twice but if the Hugo player knows the distance that it hits once he can FADC l.SPD it which will lead into mix-ups. And air mp can't be AA by st.HP meaning he has to use ex BB (Using meter which isn't all that great because Hugo's already really meter depending) or cr.HP (Which is almost too slow to use but beats any jump-in clean thanks to that hitbox.)

Giving the fact that you call THIS Hugo's worst match-up by far clearly indicates that you know absolutely nothing about hugo AT ALL.
Try using hugo against Poison, Sagat, Rose, Gouken, Juri, Dhalsim, Chun, Guile and DJ. Those match-ups are bad.

It's in hugo's favor. 7-3ish. It might be a bit of a stretch giving it 7-3 because rolento has the pokes to keep Hugo somewhat at bay, but being so free on wake-up isn't helping rolento at all. If there wasn't delayed wake-up, it would definitely be 7-3 no question.
