Chun-Li vs. Oni Ultra Street Fighter 4 tiers, match-up votes and discussion

This match is definitely in Chun's favor, but only slightly IMO. Chun keeps Oni out really well and commands the neutral game. I won't spend too much time going over how good Chun's normals are against Oni because that part is obvious.

What I think most people overlook though is just how bad Oni can wreck Chun on her wakeup. After any knockdown, Oni can take a step back and do slightly delayed meatie HK Stomp; it catches her Backdash, her Forward Dash, beats EX Bird Kick, beats any wakeup button, and is -1 on block (but it's meaty so it's actually even or slight advantage). The only thing that Chun can really do is wakeup Focus, which gives her a crumple, but focus loses to Slash (armor break), which makes a knockdown VERY dangerous for Chun against Oni. Add that in to Oni's high damage and pressure and combine it with crouch-tech > sweep OS and Oni can really be a hassle for Chun if he gets the knockdown.
