Dakota 'DarkHorse' Hills

Dakota is the lead front page reporter for EventHubs starting from 2018, having been enamored with fighting games since he first played Tekken Tag Tournament in the early 2000s.

He spent the majority of his time at university studying web journalism, learning more about the video game industry and the Japanese language. Hills would graduate from the University of Iowa in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in journalism plus a minor in Japanese studies.

Hills also ran his own dedicated fighting game blog plus a podcast and cosplay web page for a year while in college as well to cover his passions.

Street Fighter 5, Guilty Gear Strive, MultiVersus Mobile Suit Gundam: Extreme Vs. Maxiboost ON and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate are his main fighting game focuses at the moment, but he tries his best to get hands on with everything around to stay up to date with the current landscape of the FGC.

Hills is constantly scouting new and interesting fighting game titles, and does his best to find what makes each of them exciting from Under Night In-Birth and Samurai Shodown to smaller games like Flappy Fighter and Metal Revolution.

Though he doesn't get to play them as much as he'd like, DarkHorse is always down to watch tournaments and streams for Mortal Kombat 11, Tekken 7, Samurai Shodown and Dragon Ball FighterZ or run some casual sets.

Dakota has also crafted and worn a number of different video / fighting game cosplays over the years including Dante from Devil May Cry, Akihiko from Persona 4 Arena, Travis Touchdown from No More Heroes, Delsin from Infamous: Second Son and Joker from Persona 5.

He will be forever waiting for the day that Persona 5 Arena is finally announced to awaken his true potential.
