Neither did Snake (MSX2). Neither did Sonic (Genesis). Neither did Pac-Man (arcade). Neither did Cloud (PSX, although Final Fantasy itself is deeply rooted in Nintendo history). Neither did Ryu (arcade). Hell, I'm probably missing somebody. Anyway, it clearly isn't a prerequisite, so I don't see what the problem is.

How people still don't realize that these two have been multiplatform for nearly 20 years is beyond me. I would 100% welcome either one, but preferably both. They were a huge part of my childhood, and would make for a great surprise reveal to generate hype. (............what if Spyro hasn't been announced on Switch yet to save it for a simultaneous Smash reveal???)
