To counter this, if you have a character with a non-rapid-jab ender, do that instead of the rapid version. For example, with Piranha Plant, if I mash A, I get rapid jabs, but if I hold A, Plant just does a headbutt. I have to switch to that version of the jab whenever I fight Bowser.
