Rapper Waka Flocka just challenged the fighting game community and currently has one of the best players ever in his sights
The fighting game community has grabbed the attention of celebrities and popular musicians several times over the years, and it appears a new challenger may be lying in wait. This morning, FGC Twitter has been buzzing after a few tweets from rapper Waka Flocka Flame appear to have put out a fighting game challenge.
According to Flocka, he is confident in his abilities in fighting games, and he went on to put it out there that no one would want to test that. In a couple of follow up tweets, Waka mentioned one of the best fighting game players we've ever seen, SonicFox, and top Tekken player Shadow20z, and it's looking like these two could end up being the first to take on the rapper in battle.

Bandai Namco's decision to make last second interactions in Tekken 7's sometimes slow down and play out in slow motion probably sounded very simplistic in the writing room, but had an incredible impact in terms of the game's hype and watchability. Now we're seeing this bit of drama being put in other AAA titles such as Street Fighter 6, and with good reason.
As per the usual these days, modders have gotten their hands on this particular aspect of T7 gameplay, and had a bit of fun going overboard by extending the slow motion window from around 3 seconds to about 30.
Top Tekken player Gen dropped by sponsor and has withdrawn from future eSports activities
Genki "Gen" Kumisaka, one of the best Tekken competitors in the world, has reportedly been dropped by his sponsor, Donuts USG. Additionally, Gen has issue an apology for his behavior and has promised to withdraw from all future eSports activity.
This news has come out suddenly, and details remain very scarce at the moment. According to Donuts USG, Gen has admitted fault to the actions that caused the breach of contract, and the sponsor has stated that they will be refraining from commenting further "as the investigation is ongoing."

It's hard not to appreciate the monumental effort that went into the development of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. By the end of the game's DLC development, Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's roster was expanded to 86 characters — 89 if you count the Pokémon Trainer (Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard) and Pyra & Mythra all separately.
Needless to say, it ended up being quite the task for Yusuke Nakano, illustrator for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, to create that famous mural. While attending a certain gaming venue, Masahiro Sakurai recently had an opportunity to once again view that special mural in all its glory.

Tekken 7 version 5.01 patch notes
After the Tekken version 5.00 patch was released, it was announced that a new patch, version 5.01, would be releasing on October 4 — today. It was noted ahead of time that balance adjustments were being made, so recorded replays from the previous version would cease to work after the update goes live.
Needless to say, version 5.01 patch notes have been released by Bandai Namco. Adjustments have been made for Law, King, Feng, Alisa, Claudio, Lucky Chloe, Akuma, Miguel, and Armor King.

Bandai Namco announced this morning that Tekken 7 will be receiving another balance update very soon. On October 4, fans can expect another patch that is slated to introduce character changes.
At this time, details have not been divulged on exactly what and who will be targeted for alterations.

Update: Tekken 8 Producer feels it's 'unfair' how capable the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X are compared to PC for the price
Updated on September 23, 2022: Katsuhiro Harada clarified on Twitter that he didn't actually use the strong word "unfair" in the IGN interview. "For someone like me (hobbyist of PC builds), I just said, 'PS5 & XBOXSX have a good balance between price & performance (darn!)'" wrote Harada on Twitter.
The fighting game community has seen an unprecedented push to play primarily on PC in just the past 3 years, but the vast majority of players in general are going to stick with consoles for the foreseeable future.
