New triple jump tech discovered for Steve in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate might mean the Minecraft character just got a lot stronger

While there are plenty of exceptions to rules across Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's massive roster, it's very rare for characters to be able to perform more than two jumps without touching the ground again.

Those who can pull this kind of thing off (Bayonetta, Sephiroth) often have significant advantages as a result, and a recent discovery for Minecraft guest Steve reveals that he has a lot more air mobility than previously thought. Competitor and content creator ESAM has produced a video showing off exactly how to pull off and apply Steve's triple jump in regular gameplay.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has now reportedly achieved over 22.85 million sales worldwide

Back in November 2020, we reported that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate had achieved around 21,100,000 sales worldwide. However, it seems that this number is not yet done growing.

As of December 31, 2020, this number has now updated to 22.85 million according to Nintendo's top selling title sales unit page. This makes Super Smash Bros. Ultimate the Nintendo Switch's third best selling game after Mario Kart 8 Deluxe (33.41 million) and Animal Crossing: New Horizons (31.18 million).

Knuckles prop spotted for the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie set, implies team up with Sonic and Tails

Based on the movie's logo, we know that Tails will be playing a more prominent role in the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie than he did in the first film. This does make sense as Tails began making appearances in the series starting from the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 video game for the Sega Genesis.

However, it's starting to look like we won't have to wait until the third entry in the cinematic lineup before Knuckles gets in on the action. A leaked photo had a Knuckles prop standing next to Sonic and Tails near some rubble in a city environment.

VoiD releases new Sheik match up chart for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate version 11.0.1

Sheik is a very interesting character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. In return for some of the best frame data and attributes in the game, Sheik's damage and kill options feel very lacking at times. As such, the amount of precision and skill needed to play Sheik makes her less than ideal when playing online. It's no wonder that many players will often cite Sheik as being the most difficult character to get into Elite Smash with.

One player that's proven to be able to handle Sheik with great efficiency is CLG|VoiD. This competitor is generally regarded as the best Sheik user in the world. He recently released a match up chart for Sheik in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate version 11.0.1.

Here are the 5 most nerfed characters throughout Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's lifespan according to Larry Lurr

Version 11.0.0 and 11.0.1 were the latest patches to drop for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. As such, there have been numerous balance adjustments that have had major impacts on the game's meta.

While it's more likely for a patch to contain buffs for weaker characters, there have been plenty of times where fighters received some fairly significant nerfs. Notably, patch 11.0.0 provided a number of fighters with nerfs. Recently, Larry Lurr created a list that depicts who he believes to be the 5 characters who have received the most impactful nerfs since Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's launch.

ESAM hilariously almost loses his mind to frustration trying to practice Yonni's difficult Steve combos in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

PG|ESAM is known for having exceptionally good execution while playing titles in the Super Smash Bros. series. His main character, Pikachu, is regarded as being difficult to play despite his top tier status. Notably, ESAM has even spent time practicing Ice Climbers' desync combos.

A Steve player known as Yonni recently uploaded some insane combo strings with Steve that really demonstrate the Minecraft rep's potential. As such, ESAM recently attempted to replicate these combos while noting how difficult they really are.

Artist draws entire Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster in Cuphead, rubber hose style animation

Last month we reported on an artist by the name of Daniel "Danny Cortoons" Cortes who dedicated himself to drawing every Super Smash Bros. Ultimate character in 1930s rubber hose style, perhaps known better in our community these days as "Cuphead style."

Well, he finished the whole damn thing (save for the two remaining DLC characters which he promises to add once they're revealed), and today he posted a massive "everyone is here" banner for us to appreciate.

Talented teenage modder turns Kingdom Hearts 3 into jaw-dropping Super Smash Bros. bout

A modder by the name of junior has posted some footage of a project he's currently working on: turning Kingdom Hearts 3 into a Nintendo character battlefield of epic proportions.

"Kingdom Hearts 3 except I accidentally made it into Smash Brothers Ultimate," he notes in a Twitter clip that commanded our attention once we caught a glimpse Mario flinging a tornado of fireballs at a keyblade-wielding Link. We then proceeded to watch the whole thing... about seven times.

Super Smash Bros. professional pops off at amazing play, accidentally disconnects Switch, costs himself the win

James "CLG|VoiD" Makekau-Tyson is one of the best Super Smash Bros. Ultimate in the business right now, but perhaps he's just a tad too awesome for his own good.

During a recent online bout against a Sephiroth, VoiD and his Sheik held a commanding lead 3-1 stock lead. While being pressured off the ledge on the far left side of the arena, VoiD pulls off a super slick sequence that sees him beat his foe all the way across and off the other end of the stage, but then things take an interesting turn.

Over 5,000 tournament games of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate analyzed to determine who are the true kings and queens of online for wins and popularity

With well over 80 characters now on the roster of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, it can be difficult to manage this crazy amount of potential match ups, but what if we knew what we were most likely to go up against?

PGstats recently put that concept to the test by analyzing 5,960 online tournament matches in Smash Ultimate to determine which fighters are most commonly picked as well as who has the highest win rates in the competitive setting.

Masahiro Sakurai talks about his tradition of celebrating game anniversaries with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate photos

In Famitsu Column 626, Masahiro Sakurai told fans to hold on just a bit longer, likely in reference to the development of the Challenger Pack 10 and Challenger Pack 11 DLC for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. According to Kody Nokolo's translation of Famitsu Column 626, Smash series creator also took the time to discuss his tradition of celebrating gaming anniversaries with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate photos.

Quite a bit of planning has to go into this as he prepares screenshots two months before an anniversary. When the time comes, he posts the already prepared shot on Twitter.

Here are 5 characters that likely won't be part of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Fighters Pass Vol. 2 DLC

There are only two challengers remaining for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Fighters Pass Vol. 2. Based on what Masahiro Sakurai has previously said, these next two DLC characters could very well be the last ones for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. "There are only five more DLC fighters," declared Sakurai back in July 2020, following the release of Min Min. "After they have been released, the continuous Smash development from Smash for the 3DS and the Wii U will finally come to an end."

As is typical with the wait for the next character, fans have been speculating on who the next two characters could be. To narrow it down, it feels like it's possible to eliminate certain possibilities from the pool of candidates. We've managed to come up with 5 characters that are very unlikely to be joining Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's massive roster via the Fighters Pass Vol. 2.

Super Fighter M - All Star is the most shameless ripoff of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and it's no wonder it's been taken down

A very bizarre game was recently playable on the Google Play Store until it was taken down on March 8, 2021, presumably by Nintendo. "Super Fighter M - All Star," the game in question, shamelessly ripped assets from games like Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Super Mario Odyssey and Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Though the crossover nature of the game reminds of the Super Smash Bros. series, the game actually appeared to play like a top-down multiplayer hack n' slash with RPG elements — something similar to Marvel Ultimate Alliance, but way worse.

This game was apparently released by some unknown Chinese developer back in 2019. It's become popular in recent times due to a translated to English re-release by Cayman Game Inc. Hilariously, this was the only known release by Cayman Game Inc. before it was taken down. Super Fighter M - All Star even featured voice acting and cutscenes, though the game's quality was still extremely questionable.

Hungrybox releases Jigglypuff match up chart for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate version 11.0.1

Liquid|Hungrybox recently released a tier list for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. On that tier list, Hungrybox's main character, Jigglypuff, was listed as a bottom 12 character.

Jigglypuff's status as a low tier character would obviously imply that the Pokémon rep has a lot of difficult match ups at high level play. Needless to say, this was reflected in Hungrybox's newly released match up chart for Jigglypuff in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate version 11.0.1.

Should we lose ranking points in online fighting games?

Playing fighting games online can often times being a stressful yet rewarding experience though adding ranked play to the mix is sure to tip the scales more in favor of the former for many.

As someone who gets more nerves playing ranked fighting games than in actual tournaments, I often find myself asking 'would it be better if we didn't have points taken away from losses online?'
