CaptainZack banned from 2GG Super Smash Bros. Ultimate events effective immediately due to admittance of match fixing

It's been announced by 2GG, a tournament organizer group within the Smash community, that CaptainZack will be banned from their future events effective immediately. The reason provided for this imposed ban was due to match fixing.

"Effective immediately, CaptainZack will be banned from competing at all 2GG events due to match fixing at Prime Saga and MomoCon 2019," stated 2GG in their statement. "Both events ran by us. Match fixing is wrong and hurts the integrity and spirit of competition. Don’t do it."

Yoshi, Fox, and Wolf were the three most used characters in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate top 256 at EVO 2019

The biggest Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament in history took place this weekend at EVO 2019 with a whopping 3,534 entrants. Widely recognized as the most balanced Smash game to date, we were bound to see some character diversity.

How would the top tiers fare at the largest major to date for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? With players coming from every corner of the globe, we were bound for some surprises.

The biggest weekend of the year for the FGC at large is here. Of course, that means EVO 2019 is happening, in Las Vegas, U.S.A.

There's really no point in listing the notable players present, since practically everyone is there for the games present. There are probably a few exceptions, but it's safe to assume that anyone who's anyone will be there.

All Super Smash Bros. Ultimate 4.0.0 changes visualized by Beefy Smash Doods

Version 4.0.0 of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has dropped. Along with Hero from the Dragon Quest series being added to the roster, there's a plethora of changes that have been made to the game.

EVO 2019 is about to be upon us, and like every year, it's going to be a gigantic event for every game involved, and I'm sure most of you have booked your full weekend up so that you can catch all the festivities via livestream, if you're not going in person.

New mod for Super Smash Bros. Melee makes the entire cast look like they did or would in Super Smash Bros. 64

Super Smash Bros. Melee 64 is a full mod of Super Smash Bros. Melee that changes all characters, stages, music, and other graphics and effects to a Nintendo 64 style. Super Smash Bros. Melee has had many mods, but none like this.

You can now pretty much experience Melee with the 64 stages and looks. Work on your wavedashing and combos while enjoying the look and feel of Smash 64.

Like previous years, it's seeming very likely that we'll be getting interesting fighting game announcements at EVO 2019. In fact, it's basically been confirmed that Sony has some announcement that probably pertains to the fighting game community at the upcoming event.

The main stage lineup this time around includes Super Smash Bros. Ultimate (as the game with the most entrants), Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition, Tekken 7, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Samurai Shodown, Mortal Kombat 11, Soul Calibur 6, BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle, and Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st]. There could be some fun surprises waiting for us before the end of each game's events.

Invisibility, shrink, grow, make himself slow: Hero's Hocus Pocus spell has at least 21 different effects it can use in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

With Dragon Quest's Hero now out in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, players are sinking their teeth into the fighter to see just what he can do in battle... which turns out to be quite a lot considering all of spells at their disposal.

Using Hero's down special will bring up an RPG-esque spell menu with a random selection of abilities to pick from including an extra random spell called Hocus Pocus. That one in particular causes a random effect or status which could be very beneficial or detrimental — including potentially blowing himself to smithereens.

Hero is now available in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Version 4.0.0 is now accessible.

In addition to this, Nintendo has released patch notes that detail exactly what was changed. Although a vast majority of the cast was altered, some fighters received no changes.

'He has a move where even he doesn't know what's about to happen' — Super Smash Bros. Ultimate community reacts to Hero's breakdown and RNG elements

Earlier today, Masahiro Sakurai himself provided a breakdown of Hero's moveset in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. This brand new DLC fighter will apparently be made available later tonight.

Curiously, the character's design seems to heavily revolve around a luck factor. As you might imagine, many players have some opinions about the choice to build the Hero like this.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC fighter Hero can randomly instant-KO opponents, his overall randomness causing a stir in the competitive scene

Nintendo revealed its new DLC character Dragon Quest's Hero today in a video release featuring Super Smash Bros. series creator Masahiro Sakurai. He went into detail on what Hero does, and how he plays.

Aside from having the most moves in the entire cast, it was shown that Hero can randomly instant-KO his advesary. TSM|Leffen jokingly started a petition to ban Hero as a result.

Dragon Quest's Hero launches later today, July 30, in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate alongside new Mii Fighter costumes and stage

The wait for Dragon Quest Hero's launch in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is going to be even shorter than we thought given that he'll be coming out later today.

During the new fighter's breakdown, Smash creator and director Masahiro Sakurai revealed that Challenger Pack 2: Hero will be available to download July 30 instead of the previously reported July 31.
