Super Smash Bros. Ultimate had Nicktoons in it before Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl was a thing

90s kids and fans of Nicktoons were surprised to see a full-blown platform fighter called Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl revealed a few months back. The upcoming title takes heavy inspiration from the Super Smash Bros. series, using similar controls, battle mechanics, and even aesthetics — but with popular Nickelodeon characters.

What we have now is essentially a Nickelodeon Smash Bros., but funnily enough Super Smash Bros. Ultimate had Nicktoons in it before Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl was actually a thing. This is all thanks to Smash Ultimate's Stage Builder tool.

Mang0 takes on Ludwig, Atrioc and Stanz in a series of 1v3 Super Smash Bros. Melee matches

There's no doubt that C9|Mang0 is one of the best players in the world when it comes to competing at Super Smash Bros. Melee. It's no wonder that he's often referred to as one of the "Five Gods of Melee."

Shortly after his prestigious first place victory at Smash Summit 11, Mang0 participated in a Super Smash Bros. Melee stream with Ludwig, Atrioc and Stanz. It was concluded that none of the three would be able to take Mang0 on in a 1v1, so they all agreed to a series of 1v3 matches that put Mang0 at a significant disadvantage.

Nintendo reportedly steps in to prevent more modded Super Smash Bros. events

Nintendo appears to be solidifying its stance that they aren't exactly open to the idea of official events running modded versions of their most popular series.

The tournament organizers of Low Tide City announced today they were reportedly contacted by the House of N, which led to the cancelation of brackets for multiple Super Smash Bros. mods. This is the second time in less than a month that almost the exact same situation has occurred.

MkLeo demonstrates just how viable Byleth is in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate by taking Riptide over the weekend

Over 1,000 entrants participated in Riptide's Super Smash Bros. Ultimate offline tournament over the weekend. In the end, it was T1|MkLeo who emerged victorious over the competition.

To achieve this, MkLeo stuck to using Byleth exclusively in the top 8. Although it seemed like a bit of a wild statement at a time, it's looking like MkLeo might have been onto something when he boldly declared that Byleth was secretly a high tier in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate some time ago.

Shesez's Boundary Break revisit of Super Smash Bros. Melee reveals never-before-seen details

It's crazy to think that Super Smash Bros. Melee is nearly 20 years old at this point. Despite this, the game is still very popular from a competitive standpoint.

Masahiro Sakurai and his team really had to rush to get the game released with just 13 months of development time. As such, there are a number of unfinished details that can only be seen by maneuvering the camera in ways that were not intended. Shesez recently released a video that shines some light on some of these unseen details.

Steve is surprisingly one of the most popular characters of Riptide in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate majors are seemingly going to be returning to relative normalcy finally, so it's going to be important and interesting to see how these first handful actively play out.

Last week gave us Temple focusing on the European scene while Riptide is going on this weekend with most of the top North American talent in attendance, so we've gathered the character usage for the top 64 finalists to see which fighters are making the biggest splash.

Martial artists become Ivysaur and even a pig when recreating Super Smash Bros. Ultimate win animations

Martial artists Gemma and Yoshi have returned to take on another recreation of fighting game moves and animations. This time around, the duo have attempted possibly their greatest challenge yet — Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Featured here we have reenactments of victory screen animations for a solid batch of the game's playable characters. While poses like Yoshi's (the dinosaur) are easy enough to handle, things get much trickier when Yoshi (the martial artist) has to become Ivysaur and Gemma acts as Toon Link's pig to get through it all.

Maister and Elegant create devastating ledge trap with Mr. Game & Watch and Luigi during Riptide's Smash tournament

A 2v2 Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament is currently happening with Riptide, a Super Smash Bros. event that's being hosted in Sandusky, Ohio. Two notable players, SSG|Maister and Armada|Elegant, have opted to team up with their Mr. Game & Watch and Luigi.

Although a character's individual strengths in a 1v1 setting can play a role in how strong a character is in 2v2, this match type is more about the synergy that exists between a pair's characters. During a match against Oath and CRB, the two were able to demonstrate a devastating ledge trap that Game & Watch and Luigi can initiate in a 2v1 scenario.

Waluigi gets his Super Smash Bros. character reveal trailer... for Project M

The tale of Waluigi is a rather sad one. Although "Everyone is Here" for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Waluigi only exists as an Assist Trophy. He's reprised his role as an Assist Trophy for 3 games straight now.

At long last, Waluigi will be playable in Super Smash Bros., albeit unofficially through modding of Project M. To celebrate this, King Bob Gaming has created an animated trailer that tells the story of Waluigi's sadness and Smash.

Wild Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fan tears his shirt off in tournament stands for seemingly no reason

Super Smash Bros. fans are well known to be among the most passionate in all of fighting games, but we're not sure we've seen that passion lead to something quite like this before.

During the big Temple Smash Ultimate tournament this past weekend, one man could be seen in the stands tearing his shirt off during top 8 though we're not entirely sure why.

Pro Super Smash Bros. Ultimate player doesn't fall for opponent's flailing then dodges an attack at the final moment like an anime scene

Perhaps I've been watching a little too much One Piece lately, but this clip from Super Smash Bros. Ultimate pro player SSG|Maister really reminds me of something you'd seen in an anime.

During an online bout against a Mario player, the pro came upon a situation where the opponent ended up on the other side of the platform hitting random buttons and whiffing at nothing. Simply standing there while Mario did... whatever it was that he was doing, Maister reacted as the opponent tried to surprise attack, dodging at the last second and convincing the opponent to walk off the stage and self destruct for the loss.

There's something really creepy about Steve performing the rest of the roster's victory poses in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Characters like Steve and Villager are known for always smiling in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate no matter what's happening. There have been a lot of memes that have developed that depict these characters as being creepy as a result.

What if I said that Steve can become even creepier? In a video uploaded by Master0fHyrule, shows Steve performing the victory animations of every other character in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Temple character usage provides an interesting look at how the offline meta may be developing in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate

Offline Super Smash Bros. Ultimate majors disappeared for more than a year along with pretty much every other in-person event thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. This forced competitive players to adjust their gameplan around the game's suboptimal online experience, but now we're beginning to finally see that change.

Temple: Hermès Edition provided perhaps our best look at what large-scale global tournaments will look like for Smash Ultimate now with over 860 players signed up, and the characters they brought to the setups may provide an interesting glimpse as to how the offline meta will continue to develop as these types of events become more commonplace again.

'With the power of Midas in my hand, I command you to be a 9!' — Will HungryBox's RNG manipulation trick work?

Liquid|HungryBox has always had a flair for the dramatic during his live Twitch streams. This isn't too surprising considering some of his popoffs throughout his time as a Super Smash Bros. competitor.

One Super Smash Bros. minigame that tends to be popular during Twitch streams is a game that involves both players mirror matching one another as Mr. Game & Watch. Leave your skill and knowledge of the game at the door as this is a game of pure chance.
