Skullgirls' Big Band plays an instrumental Street Fighter 2 Ryu theme

Big Band is a character in Skullgirls that is known for attacking with musical instruments. One user on Twitter has decided to make a video showcasing Big Band playing a number of musical themes.

One of the most recognizable themes to fighting game aficionados, would have to be Ryu's Street Fighter 2 theme. Not surprisingly, Big Band plays that theme in one of the videos.

Artist highlight: Garakuta's Capcom and Skullgirls character portraits and manga panels

Today we're featuring the art of Japanese artist Garakuta.

While his focus is mostly on Capcom characters, we do see a few Skullgirls as well. Garakuta draws both character portraits as well as manga, all of which is masterfully executed.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 comes out on top in the Make-A-Wish Foundation EVO 2017 charity drive, awaiting final word from EVO staff

The Make-A-Wish Foundation EVO 2017 charity drive to determine the player's choice game has concluded. At this time, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has raised the most money totaling

It was a very close race that came down to the wire. Pokken Tournament and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 were neck-and-neck throughout the entirety of the donation drive, and the end result was a close one.

At this time, we are waiting on confirmation from the EVO staff whether or not UMvC3 will secure the 9th spot on the event's line up. Though the game raised the most money, all of the numbers will likely have to be tallied and potential false donations may need to be weeded out.

Skullgirls physical release delayed, no new release period set yet but work is still being done on the title

Skullgirls was set to get a physical release in January 2017, but the month has come and gone, and no physical release is out.

The reasons for this were clarified on the game's official website, where they cited numerous reasons for why this delay has occured, and while there's no new release estimate as of right now, the team are still hard at work, so fans need not despair.

Huge update for Skullgirls 2nd Encore, check out the 'Lobby Patch' notes right here

There's a new patch for Skullgirls 2nd Encore out today in North America for PlayStation 4, Vita and Steam.

This "Lobby Patch" includes a plethora of updates, tweaks and changes for both general gameplay and individual characters, the biggest of these is the addition of the 8-player lobby.

This update is not yet available to users in Europe and Japan unless they are playing on the Steam version of the game. As for Xbox 360 users, the update is still a little ways off. You'll see the extensive list of changes below.

Skullgirls 2nd Encore's physical copy release has three purchase options, pre-orders available now

Last month, we learned that Skullgirls 2nd Encore will be seeing a physical release from Limited Run Games. Since it was first released back in 2012, Skullgirls has only ever known the digital download format.

Pre-orders for the game are now available, and those looking to pick it up can do so by way of three different purchase options. For $39.99, PlayStation 4 owners will receive a copy of the game with a special slip cover, full-color instruction manual, and a soundtrack.

PlayStation Vita players can get the same deal for $39.99, and for those who want to purchase on both platforms, you can do so for $74.99. This option gets you both games, two instruction manuals, and the special soundtrack.

Over 200 players registered for Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator: If you like Anime, cosplay, and killer fighting game competition, don't miss CEOtaku

CEOtaku is taking place this weekend, October 1-2, in Orlando, Florida. The state's first Anime fighting game convention is back for another year of exciting competition, hype moments, and much more.

Alex Jebailey, founder of the CEO tournament series, is known for creating a large spectacle out of his events, and with him at the helm of yet another, you definitely won't want to miss it.

Not only will we be seeing games such as Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator, King of Fighters 14, BlazeBlue: Central Fiction, and many others played over the course of the weekend, but attendees can look forward to checking out booths featuring numerous artists, a cosplay contest, and more.

The upcoming Skullgirls 2nd Encore update aims to do three things: balance characters, make Robo-Fortune more fun and Fukua less boring

The developers of Skullgirls 2nd Encore are piecing together an pretty large update for the game, and though they already have an idea of what they'd like to change, they could still use your input on how to make the team fighter even more enjoyable.

There's actually a lot more planned than what was rounded up in the article title, and there's a whole forum thread where you can offer your opinions and see what's been discussed thus far.

This update will be bringing lobby features to all console versions of SGSE, similar to what's already available in the Steam version.

Some changes have already been implemented as the beta is updated every couple of days with approved changes. All gameplay-related changes will undergo testing in the Endless Beta version on Steam.

Defend The North 2016 is taking place this weekend over in White Plains, New York. This East Coast event marks another Ranking event on this year's Capcom Pro Tour.

The fighting games you can expect to see this weekend include Street Fighter 5, Ultra Street Fighter 4, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Mortal Kombat XL, Guilty Gear Xrd Revelator, Super Smash Bros. Wii U, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Killer Instinct, Skullgirls, and Pokken Tournament.

Day 1 begins with the team tournaments, and we will be seeing players such as NYChrisG, FOX|Julio, LI Joe, NVT|Flash, EG|K-Brad, EG|Ricki Ortiz, F3|alucarD, PIE|Smug, RN|Alex Myers, IFC Yipes, TS|Arturo Sanchez, PG|Coach Steve, Golden Cen, UA|Bass, PAG|Pink Diamond, and more compete throughout the weekend. Because Juri's release was earlier this week, she will not be playable in the Street Fighter 5 tournament.
