The action isn't over yet, we've got yet another big event going on this weekend, namely Toryuken 7 in Toronto, Canada.

This is a Ranking Event for the Capcom Pro Tour, so points to get in to the Capcom Cup are on the line.

Besides that, the event will also be hosting Dragon Ball FighterZ, Tekken 7, Under Night In-Birth EXE: Late[st], Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2, BlazBlue: Central Fiction, Ultra Street Fighter 4, Super Street Fighter 2: Turbo, Sailor Moon S, King of Fighters 14, Samurai Shodown 5 Special, Garou: Mark of the Wolves and Soul Calibur 2 on stream.

Players attending include NuckleDu, Mouz|Problem X, FOX|Justin Wong, Circa|JoeyFury, Teemo, WBG|CJ Truth, Nephew, Rise|Marn, Chi-Rithy and many more.

It's a two-day event, so make sure to keep your eyes peeled for the game you're most invested in, and enjoy the action.

Stunfest 2018 results

For the first time in over a month, we've got a Capcom Pro Tour Premier event upon us.

The annual Stunfest tournament is taking place, as always, in Rennes, France.

As mentioned, it's a huge event for Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition, with almost 250 entrants from across the world, but there are a ton of other games being played as well.

Check out the character sprites from Capcom vs. SNK and SNK vs. Capcom side by side in this new video from VCDECIDE

Capcom and SNK ruled the 90's 2D fighting games landscape with the popularity of franchises like Street Fighter, Fatal Fury, King of Fighters and the various Marvel games, so crossover projects between the developers were a dream or fantasy that actually came true.

Multiple crossover games were developed by both Capcom and SNK with Capcom vs. SNK 2 continuing to be a staple of the fighting game community 17-years after its initial release while SNK vs. Capcom:SVC Chaos is a generally forgotten piece of history from the early 00's.

VCDECIDE's YouTube channel is based largely around comparing game versions between arcade and console versions of games, but recently made a video comparing the CvS and SvC character sprites in motion side-by-side which is pretty neat.

For those that don't know, the CvS games were developed by Capcom and feature Street Fighter models based on the Street Fighter 3 and Alpha games combined with wholly original sprites of SNK characters while SvC was developed by SNK (Playmore) and featured models based on their titles plus new Street Fighter models that appear to be based around their SF2 designs.

As to which version of the characters looks better is entirely subjective, but in general Capcom's sprites appear to have some cleaner art and brighter colors while SNK's have more shading and additional frames of animation.

Neo Geo Mini officially unveiled, comes with 40 games and built-in screen

The Neo Geo Mini was leaked online last week, and it now appears that those leaks are very much legit now that SNK has officially unveiled the small classic console in celebration of the company's 40th anniversary.

The small console is modeled after SNK's Neo Geo arcade cabinets complete with a 3.5 inch screen, arcade stick and classic-styled buttons; it will also come packaged with 40 titles built into the system though those will be announced at a later date.

Two versions of the Mini will be released with one releasing to Japan and other Asian territories that has a more colorful design to look like the Neo Geo MVS cabinets while the international version will look more like the console. There is no word yet as to whether the two versions will have different selections of games or feature the same roster.

The Neo Geo Mini will stand just over six-inches tall and weigh around 1.3 lb/ 600 grams. It also features an HDMI output to play on your monitor or TV, a headphone jack, a power supply cable (AC adapter not included) and two slots on the side to plug in extra controllers (which were shown in the leak, but not in the reveal).

As for the release date and pricing for the mini console, SNK did not give any details beyond the new Neo Geo coming sometime this year though one of the leakers expects the system to cost $100-150.

SNK is reportedly developing a Neo Geo Mini console with its own screen and 40 games for the company's 40th anniversary

"Classic" mini-consoles seem to be the new go to for older hardware developers to release and reel players in with their favorite games from years past all packed into one system after the success of the NES and SNES Classics for Nintendo.

SNK made a teaser tweet last month in celebration of the company's 40th anniversary with something hidden under a curtain branded with the Neo Geo logo, and now it appears that what is hiding underneath is the Neo Geo Mini.

Video game and tech YouTube channel Spawn Wave broke the news by releasing details and pictures of the system in one of their recent videos after receiving the information from a trusted source.

The Neo Geo mini is rumored to include 40 games with five King of Fighters titles, three Samurai Shodown and Fatal Fury games. There is no information included as to the price or release date of the system, but the guys over at Spawn Wave believe it may be in the $100-150 price range.

This rumored console appears to have a built-in arcade stick and buttons with a 3.5-inch screen plus an HDMI output and slots to use different gamepads with the system that look to be proprietary. It apppears that the system will also come with cover stickers to decorate the Neo Geo Mini with (or whatever you so choose) beyond the four games shown in the images.

Texas Showdown 2018 results ft. Punk, NuckleDu, ChrisG, Problem X, Chris T

The big event this weekend is Texas Showdown 2018 taking place, quite obviously, in Texas, U.S.A., more specifically in Houston.

This is both a Ranking event on the Capcom Pro Tour and a Challenger event on the Tekken World Tour, so both Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition and Tekken 7 will be quite stacked.

Besides the aforementioned two titles, the tournament will also feature Dragon Ball FighterZ, Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2, Super Street Fighter 2: Turbo, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, Injustice 2, Killer Instinct, Capcom vs. SNK 2, King of Fighters 14, Vampire Savior/Darkstalkers, Street Fighter 3: 3rd Strike and Under Night In-Birth EXE: Late[st].

Obviously there are a ton of players participating, with Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition, Dragon Ball FighterZ and Tekken 7 all reaching over 100 entrants each.

KVOxTSB 2018 results ft. Go1, Nage, Omito, Samitto, Zadi

KVOxTSB is taking place yet again this year, and there's a huge lineup participating.

As usual, it's taking place in Osaka, Japan.

A bunch of different games are being played in various formats, some as teams and some as single-entry, and some even both.

The games you'll be seeing at the event are Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2, Dragon Ball FighterZ, Super Smash Bros. 4, Pokkén Tournament DX, King of Fighters 14, Koihime Enbu, ARMS, Super Smash Bros. Melee, Under Night In-Birth EXE: Late[st], Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, BlazBlue: Central Fiction, Dead or Alive 5: Last Round, Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, Chaos Code: New Sign of Catastrophe, Arcana Heart 3: Love MAX Six Stars, Fate: Unlimited Codes as well as a exhibition tournament in BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle.

Falke's staff hurtboxes in Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition aren't a first in fighting games... King of Fighter's Billy Kane has them too

There's been a number of concerns regarding Falke's potential in Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition since her release on April 24th. You've probably already heard about RZR|Infiltration stating that she is the "worst character in the game" while RZR|Xian referred to her as having "zero potential."

One of her issues that has been causing doubt among top competitors (among many others) is the fact that her staff, the Harmony, has hurtboxes attached to them while she is attacking. The expectation here is that her staff would have disjointed hitboxes that would give her a very strong, and difficult to punish mid-range game.

It's especially interesting to consider since Menat doesn't have hurtboxes attached to her crystal ball while they are augmenting her normals. Evidently, Capcom intends for Menat to have a superior and less risky set of footsie tools compared to Falke -- which is perfectly fine in a fighting game, as long as Falke brings her own unique strengths to the table.

Of course, Falke isn't the first fighting game character to make use of a weapon. Billy Kane of the King of Fighters series battles with a sansetsukon, a three-section staff.

Like Falke, Billy Kane's attacks carry a moderate amount of risk. His staff also happens to have hurtboxes attached while poking. Despite this, Billy Kane has seen his time as a strong fighter in certain iterations of the King of Fighters series.

Thanks to the efforts of my coworker, Nicholas 'MajinTenshinhan' Taylor, we have clips to show instances of Billy Kane's staff attacks being whiff punished or trading with other attacks in King of Fighters 14. Have a look for yourself:

Game Over 2018 results ft. MenaRD, Justin Wong, Brolynho, K-Brad, Caba

This weekend will see the Game Over 2018 event taking place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

This is a Capcom Pro Tour ranking event, so points are on the line for Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition.

Besides this, the event will also feature tournament play for Dragon Ball FighterZ, Super Smash Bros. 4, Mortal Kombat XL, Injustice 2 and King of Fighters 14.

Players attending include, but are not limited to, RISE|MenaRD, FOX|Justin Wong, F3|Brolynho, Ghost|K-Brad, GAM|Caba, CYG|Chris Tatarian, ESPR|Mono and SB|DoomSnake507.

With around 80 entrants for Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition, it'll be interesting to see how well the local Dominican fighters manage to protect their home turf against international invaders, and there's bound to be a lot of hype matches going on.

King of Fighters 14 3.01 patch tidies up odd visual bugs and unintended move interactions

The recent update for King of Fighters 14 brought with it some all new characters and balance changes much to the delight of fans everywhere. It also brought some bugs and unintentional happenings that required a quick fix.

SNK has done just that and released a secondary patch to clean a few moves up, specifically focusing on Robert, Oswald, King, Heidern and Blue Mary.

Looking to clean up odd visuals and strange move interactions, the change list isn't all that long but still very important in maintaining a general sense of respectability for the game.

One of the most notable bugs saw characters become weirdly distorted upon being hit by one of Robert's attacks.

The first change, "Robert's Ryuuren・Gen-ei Kyaku (including the EX version) are now displayed correctly," deals directly with this.

King of Fighters 14 is a perfect example of how DLC keeps a game alive in this day and age, and how industry approach to fighting games has changed

The never-ending theme of modern day gaming is DLC, where you continuously add content to a game after it's been released, and fighting games are obviously far from exempt from this practice.

Last year, I did a piece analyzing how DLC can best be kept fair for both sides of the equation, namely the consumers buying the game as well as the developers making the game.

After all, game development is definitely not cheap, in fact, it's now more expensive than ever, and development cycles have increased in time, so it makes sense both for the consumer to get more out of their game because of how long they'll have to wait for a possible sequel, and also from the company's side to keep the team employed longer for a potentially bigger return of investment.

This can also be a good way to respond to feedback from players, who can theoretically get their woes fixed in a game now instead of having to wait for a sequel or different game, by which point they might have lost interest entirely.

While these scenarios are ideal and perhaps overwhelmingly optimistic, these are the kinds of promises DLC could potentially hold, though the reality might not always be in line with said ideal.

With all modern fighting games employing some form of DLC, it's definitely something you have to get used to as a consumer, and while scummy DLC practices definitely exist, let's take a look at some consumer-friendly DLC we've been treated to, and how it came about.

The King of Fighters 14 3.01 version update is reportedly coming to fix various bugs in the game

SNK continues to support its flagship fighter the King of Fighters 14 with four brand new characters and balance changes last week with the games 3.00 update though it also brought with it some new bugs.

There was an especially goofy bug that would cause characters' bodies to elongate after getting hit with Robert's command grab, but it seems like that won't be in the game for much longer.

A version 3.01 update for the game will be dropping in the near future to address Robert's body horror attack and small adjustments to the newly released characters among others. This update is meant primarily to fix minor bugs in the game, but will not be including much for balance changes.

The list is currently only available in Japanese, but a Twitter user by the name of inwi|frionel has taken it upon themselves to translate the fixes and tweet out what to expect when the update comes to the PlayStation 4.

Blue Mary, Oswald and Heidern all have small adjustments made in version 3.01 reportedly including hitbox changes to the trio and some reduced block stun for Oswald. Najd is not mentioned in this list of changes though King is listed to get some adjustments to her Silent Flash attacks.

Blue Mary's King of Fighters 14 combo exhibition by the Combonauts show off her damage output and flashiness

Recently, Blue Mary joined the King of Fighters 14 roster as a DLC fighter. Yasuyuki Oda noted that she was one of the most highly requested characters for KOF14 by fans.

This is a prime opportunity for players to figure out how to utilize her tools in combos. The Combonauts have created a new King of Fighters 14 video that's dedicated to just Blue Mary.

While the Combonauts have recently been busy with Dragon Ball FighterZ content, their origins actually comes from doing combo videos for King of Fighters games. It's been a long time since their last upload for this game.

If you are looking to pick up Blue Mary to be part of your team in this 3v3 fighting game, this might be worth checking out. The Combonauts are known for prioritizing flashiness over practicality, but there's always something that can be learned from their videos as far as bread and butters are concerned.

Based on what is shown in the video, Blue Mary's damage output seems quite strong. Given the right amount of resources, she can really lay the pain down on opponents.

King of Fighters 14 new patch comes with odd distortion bug when Robert lands one attack in particular

A Twitter user by the name of GJbu_man has uploaded some footage of a newly discovered visual bug in King of Fighters 14.

Said bug involves Robert as he lands his Hien Senpuu Kyaku attack, which sees him smack his foe with a machine gun barrage of kicks.

When this happens, certain characters become warped in appearance, either stretching out to Pumpkinhead-like status or becoming smashed down as though they were a humanoid accordion.

It seems as though this bug came along with the recent patch update that included both balance changes and new DLC characters.

It doesn't appear as though this will affect too much in the way of gameplay, but could definitely use a hot fix for presentation's sake.

Here are a pair of stills showing how Nakoruru and Chang become warped when hit by Robert's Hien Senpuu Kyaku technique, and the third one is a video clip so you can see it in action.

Basic combos, every new super, fast stunners and good tunes - The King of Fighters 14 day one DLC roundup

New characters bring a ton of excitement to fighting games especially when you get a group of new fighters added all at once which is what SNK decided to do this year with their continued support of King of Fighters 14.

The newest update for the King of Fighters 14 finally dropped today and with it came Blue Mary, Oswald, Heidern, and the newcomer Najd along with some new balance changes and general fixes.

We haven't seen Blue Mary in a new game since 2005, so she appears to have the most buzz surrounding her compared to the other three (though players appear to be quite happy with their inclusions too).

Players are already grinding their hours away in training mode to see just what they are all capable of. Zero-to-stun combos, over 600 or 700 damage dealing combos and interesting tech has already been found in just the first 12 hours or so.

We have collected a handful of those combos along with quick combo guides for each new character, each of their Super moves in the game and all of their character themes which you can find after the jump.

Let's kick things off with an impressive three-meter consuming combo by Blue Mary for over 640 damage.

With Blue Mary finally making her return in King of Fighters 14 today, let's take a look at her character history

Today, King of Fighters 14 will be receiving its second wave of DLC characters, almost exactly a year after the game added the much-hyped foursome of Whip, Yamazaki, Vanessa and Rock Howard.

Within this pack, you'll find Oswald, Heidern, brand new character Najd, and as we found out last week, fan favorite Blue Mary.

Though we've already done a few pieces here on EventHubs regarding the other characters and what they're all about, Blue Mary hasn't gotten that same level of attention yet despite her popularity.

A classic Fatal Fury character, eventually turned King of Fighters mainstay, Blue Mary has been away from the spotlight for quite some time, and now that she's finally back, it's time to give her some of the attention she deserves.

The King of Fighters 14 3.0 update is now live - adds balance changes, new characters, and more

King of Fighters 14's latest update is now live. The 3.0 patch introduces a number of character balance changes, as well as adds new characters, stages, and functionality improvements.

Today, players can get their hands on returning fighters Blue Mary, Oswald, and Heidern as DLC. Najd, a brand new character to the series, also sees her release today.

The 3.0 update comes in at a 1.280 GB file size. Along with the aforementioned additions, this patch also brings about several bug fixes.

The new DLC characters are available on the PS Store now.

Blue Mary, Oswald, Heidern, and Najd come with a price tag of $5.99. To save a bit of money, you can also opt to get bundle 2 for $19.99, which includes all four of the new fighters.
