King of Fighters stories

Miss X now available in SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy

Miss X is now available as a DLC fighter for SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy on the Nintendo Switch and the PlayStation 4. Notably, this character was the host of Queen of Fighters tournament in SNK Gals' Fighters.

"She" is essentially Iori in a sailor's outfit and ninja mask. Funnily enough, Iori's disguise fails to fool anyone.

In SNK Heronies Tag Team Frenzy, she gets a cross dressing and gender bender version. This is somewhat similar to Terry Bogard's gender bender version also present in the game.

Her fighting style should come across as familiar to Iori fans.

In any event, Miss X seems unhappy with her current predicament. This is similar to basically every other character in the game due to Kukri's involvement.

Miss X joins Square Enix's Thief Arthur and Arika's Skullomania as the next DLC fighter. Who will be the next character?

Hit the jump to check out her release trailer.

Female Skullomania from Fighting EX Layer joins the SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy roster

NIS America has announced that Skullomania from Fighting EX Layer will be joining the SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy roster as DLC.

Much like King of Fighters' Terry Bogard, Skullomania is seen as a female version of the originally male fighter in order to face off against the all-female cast of SNK Heroines.

Skullomania is a fan-favorite character who originated back in the Street Fighter EX series. Arika, the company behind that series, recently put together their own fighting game called Fighting EX Layer, which saw the return of many of their characters — including Skullomania.

In SNK Heroines, Skullomania fights at a fast pace. She uses several special moves that cover horizontal space quickly, such as slides and lunges forward, and utilizes multi-hitting attacks that appear to put the opponent into a juggle state.

Skullomania's big super move sees her land a series of flashy strikes, each of which almost acting as its own pose for the camera. One portion of this super oddly features a quick flash of her sitting at a table with her opponent with a refrigerator in the background.

This is the second DLC and guest character to be added to SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy. Earlier this month, we saw Thief Arthur from Million Arthur: Arcana Blood join the playable roster.

Skullomania will be released on October 11th. SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy is available on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.

Thief Arthur DLC and arcade stick support delayed for SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy

SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy finally dropped last Friday, September 7th, though it launched to mostly mixed critical and fan reception for the fan service fighter due to its lack of content and questionable design choices.

The game's first piece of DLC and update were originally scheduled to launch earlier today, but SNK has decided to push back the content and system changes by another week.

Thief Arthur from Million Arthur: Arcana Blood is the game's first DLC character and first guest character hailing from a Square Enix property, and she will now launch on September 19th or 20th depending on what version of the game you own and where you live.

A free update will also come alongside the new character next week that will bring official arcade stick support to the game which likely isn't in the current build of the game because items are used by moving the right analog stick... which most sticks don't really have.

Another guest character outside of the SNK stable was also recently teased at PAX West though we still don't know her identity, and the wording of the PlayStation Blog's post makes it appear that they won't be the only two DLC characters released for the title.

Thief Arthur will cost $4.99 USD when she launches next week on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. You can check out the new release schedule for the DLC and update after the jump.

SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy review roundup - a mixed bag of accessible gameplay and a ton of fanservice

SNK Heroines finally released late last week though it was likely overshadowed in the minds of many gamers by Marvel's Spider-Man releasing at the same time except for those deeper into the fighting game community.

The title features some of SNK's most recognizable female fighters — along with a female Terry Bogard — duking it out in a simplified crossover tag-team fighting game with a heavy focus on fanservice and character customization.

Reviews are also live all around the internet for the newest SNK fighter, but they aren't exactly glowing. SNK Heroines currently sits at a Metacritic score of 64 out of 100 while user reviews are a little higher at 70.

We've rounded up many of those reviews and more from other sites, and most of them agree that the core gameplay is at least fun and rewarding enough while you're playing with others in Versus Mode though there's not much else going for it.

The character customization tools are fairly in-depth, but the game lacks an Arcade Mode, the Story Mode is generally regarded as bad and the load times can also be quite poor on the Nintendo Switch version.

Most reviews refer to it as a party fighter that will likely not find much of a hardcore audience outside of a specific niche or those looking to play often with friends. You can find the review roundup after the jump.

SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy now available on PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch

SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy is finally here. After several months of reveals and trailers, SNK's all-female fighting title hits store shelves today.

The latest from the company that brought us the King of Fighters franchise sees many of SNK's most popular female characters taking part in 2v2 team battles. Players can switch between their two characters mid-match to create flashy sequences and to keep the offense coming.

Featured on the SNK Heroines playable roster we find familiar faces such as Mai Shiranui, Kula Diamond, Leona Heidern, Yuri Sakazaki, Athena Asamiya, Nakoruru, Shermie, Luong, and more. Additionally, Fatal Fury's Terry Bogard makes an appearance as a playable character, only this time he has been transformed into a woman to fit the cast.

SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy uses simple controls to allow players the ability to perform powerful techniques with ease. The game also utilizes one-button special moves.

If you're looking to purchase the game, you can do so on the PlayStation 4 (digitally) and Nintendo Switch. The standard version of the game will run you $49.99 USD on both platforms.

If you'd like to pick up a physical copy of SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy on PS4, you'll have to purchase the Diamond Dream Edition of the game, which comes with several other added goodies. This version will run you $119.99 USD.

Terry Bogard Kinetiquettes diorama available for pre-order tomorrow for $699

There's no doubt that Terry Bogard of the Fatal Fury and King of Fighters franchises is a memorably gaming icon. In fact, Terry Bogard was voted as the most popular choice in our "favorite fighting game protagonist" poll — even beating Ryu from the Street Fighter series!

Terry Bogard is actually going to be making a guest appearance in Fighting EX Layer. He is also being turned into a female during the events of SNK Heroines: Tag Team Frenzy.

Kinetiquettes is creating a series of dioramas for Terry Bogard. We've already seen then do this for multiple Street Fighter characters. They've even created a statue of CYG|Daigo Umehara himself!

This Terry Bogard diorama is stated to be at 1/4 the scale. The geyser base is detachable and can even be lit up via LED lights.

Pre-orders will begin tomorrow on September 5th at 8:00 A.M. PST and 11:00 A.M. EST. As you might expect of Kinetiquettes diorama, this is an expensive novelty item. It's priced at $699.

Even if you don't plan on shelling that much cash to own one of these, you can still have a look at the details seen in the images.

What could SNK's new game announcement next week be? Let's take a look at what fighting games might be gracing us from them in the near future

SNK have long been a big company as far as the fighting game genre goes, originally stepping in to the scene back in 1991 with the original Fatal Fury, in which highly popular (and my personal favorite fighting game character) Terry Bogard debuted, among others.

Since then, they've developed tons of games, many of the fighting genre, and started doing crossovers ever so slightly with Art of Fighting taking place in the same universe as Fatal Fury, but earlier, with a younger Geese Howard making an appearance in the series.

This eventually culminated to the massive fighting game crossover that most of us know SNK for today, King of Fighters, which is still an active franchise that gets new titles from time to time.

Of course, back in the day, SNK did much more than just the games that would eventually end up in King of Fighters. They also had several historical fighters in the Samurai Shodown (from which Nakoruru actually did join King of Fighters in its latest installment) and The Last Blade series.

They also kept older fighting game franchises alive outside of crossover scenarios, somewhat, with the latest being the highly regarded Garou: Mark of the Wolves, a sequel to the Fatal Fury series which takes place ten years later than the main Fatal Fury series, and has only brand new playable characters besides Terry Bogard — this was also the game where his famous Buster Wolf originated.

With SNK having something of a renaissance as of late, and King of Fighters 14 being a big enough success for them where they released DLC characters for it two years in a row, it's exciting to see what they might be working on next. So let's have a gander at what possibilities lie before us, and how likely they might be.

NIS America teases a new mysterious guest character for SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy

Guest characters in fighting games appears to be a more and more common occurrence in recent years with Mortal Kombat likely responsible for the fairly recent trend which has spread throughout developers and publishers throughout the world.

SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy isn't out until later this week, but NIS America and SNK are apparently still not done announcing characters for the game after revealing Thief Arthur from Square-Enix's Million Arthur series as the title's first DLC character.

There's reportedly more on the way for new characters as well, as SNK and NIS, the game's publisher, teased another new guest character in the way of a silhouette at their PAX West panel this past weekend.

No hints were given as to the character's identity beyond the fact that they will not be from an SNK game, and they likely appear to be wearing gloves of some kind due to their pose in the silhouette.

It could potentially be a character from the Fighting EX Layer / Fighting Layer series since Arika announced that Terry Bogard will be joining Fighting EX Layer as a guest DLC character at EVO 2018. SNK made a similar deal with Square Enix for Thief Arthur, as Square announced that Iori Yagami will be joining their game Million Arthur: Arcana Blood.

A day one patch was also reportedly announced that will include arcade stick support and access to Thief Arthur when SNK Heroines launches on September 7th on the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. You can take a look at the silhouette below, and let us know who you think it might be in our comments section.

SNK will announce a new game on September 10th and there's a good chance it's a fighting game

It's time for an announcement of an announcement. SNK will be revealing a new game on September 10, 2018.

On SNK's website, a mysterious timer is set to expire on that day. We can clearly see the number of days, hours, minutes, and seconds remaining until new information is revealed.

As a result of this, we can pinpoint the exact time when this mysterious reveal will happen. The reveal is scheduled to happen at 4:00 P.M. PST and 7:00 P.M. EST during the aforementioned day.

Above the clock, the words "a new dawn rises..." serves as our only real clue about this upcoming game. It is currently unknown if this is for a new intellectual property or if it's a continuation of one of SNK's established franchises.

Notably, King of Fighters 14 was released on August 23, 2016. Oswald, Heidern, Najd, and Blue Mary were the last DLC characters to be released on April 12, 2018. Still, there was a six year gap between the release dates for King of Fighters 13 and 14.

While SNK Heroines will be releasing on September 7, 2018, this is a fighting game that could probably be considered to be a spin-off. What are the odds of SNK announcing a new fighter just three days later?
