Killer Instinct players free to teabag all they want during KI World Cup, ban is not in effect

The buzz in the Killer Instinct world yesterday was all about the alleged ban on teabagging at the KI World Cup.

Said ban is not actually true.

Tournament organizer Brandon Alexander set the record straight with Yahoo eSports, saying that there was such a rule back in 2016, though it was not enforced and was eventually done away with completely.

Yesterday's buzz was ignited after a disagreement between two players involving the disrespectful taunt escalated to the point of threats. While the KI World Cup will not penalize players for teabagging, they will not tolerate any kind of real life threat or assault.

Teabagging banned at Killer Instinct World Cup, failing to abide results in ban from all 2017 World Cup events

The Killer Instinct World Cup is taking place on March 10-12 in San Antonio, Texas, and is the culmination of the year-long tournament season that kicked off last April. One of the event's rules has caused a stir in the fighting game community -- teabagging is not allowed.

Players will sometimes repeatedly hit down on the joystick/d-pad as a means of taunting their opponent. The specifics of the rule were reiterated on Twitter by tournament organizer ISM|Rotendo, which led to an uproar on social media.

This form of taunting, which is actually fairly prevalent in Killer Instinct because of the players' ability to move their character between rounds and after KO, will not be allowed at the tournament finals. Anyone who chooses not to abide by this rule will be served with a ban from all World Cup events for the 2017 season.

Kilgore available for purchase now, Jago's brand new Ultimate revealed in Killer Instinct

Microsoft and Iron Galaxy have concluded their Killer Instinct character breakdown live stream for Kilgore. It was announced during the broadcast that the new character is now available for purchase.

Kilgore comes with a price tag of $10, and half of every purchase will go directly into the Ultra Tour tournament series. Season 3 is officially finished, meaning that Kilgore, the other two upcoming characters, and any other content to be released going forward is considered "post-Season 3."

Additionally, Iron Galaxy and Microsoft showed a special teaser which was actually more of a reveal. Jago is going to be receiving an Ultimate finisher, and though it hasn't been confirmed yet, it is likely that the rest of the cast will be getting one as well.

We have included all of Kilgore's colors and accessories, footage of Jago's Ultimate, and the stream archive in our story. To see everything, be sure to hit the jump.

Kilgore is the newest character to be revealed as playable in Killer Instinct Season 3. Though we won't be seeing its official release until sometime in January, it looks as though fans can already partly access the new fighter in-game right now.

If you want to see Kilgore in action, you can currently face off against a CPU-controlled version of him in versus. There have also been reports of some players being able to play as the cyborg by way of a special Shadow Lords mission.

Maximilian has put together a video that covers what the new fighter is all about. We learn that though Kilgore looks quite a bit like Fulgore, it is actually more of a distance-fighter.

Additionally, we get a quick look at the character's move list and are treated to a lot of gameplay footage. Below is just a quick clip to get you started.

Thunder getting re-imagined Native American tribe costume in Killer Instinct season 3, free of charge for all users

The Killer Instinct franchise was revived back in 2013, coming to fans as an Xbox One launch title. The mainstay characters who made their return were redesigned for the modern era, including Chief Thunder.

Microsoft worked closely with members of the Nez Perce tribe -- who hail from Lapwai, Idaho -- to come up with a new look for the Native American powerhouse. As a thank you to both the Nez Perce tribe and the fans, a new costume is being released for Thunder this month, and it's free!

The new costume will be a re-imagined look, that is a "100 percent authentic warrior outfit derived from Nez Perce cultural traditions and dress." All Killer Instinct users can look forward to downloading this costume starting December 21st.

Below is a glimpse of what this costume will look like.

It looks as though a brand new Killer Instinct character may have been discovered by digging through the Xbox One menu. Twitter user Julian posted evidence on the social media platform last night that shows official artwork for a mysterious character named "Kilgore."

Much like the name suggests, this fighter resembles Fulgore, but appears to have a different face and what looks to be a mini-gun as its left arm.

Oh, how I wish these were actual costumes for Hsien-Ko and Hisako: This artist imagines what the ghost girls would look like if they switched places

"What ifs" are always fun when it comes to fighting games.

Artist JDPlayer put together an art piece that imagines Hsien-Ko from Darkstalkers as Hisako from Killer Instinct and vice versa.

The result is downright awesome, and I am all in favor of a Hsien-Ko accessory set for Hisako in season 4! And if we ever see another Darkstalkers title, a Hisako alternate outfit would be most welcome.

That's a fairly tall order, though. So, be sure to check out the artwork below and dream that these will one day come to fruition with me.

Street Fighter 5 only had the fifth favorite set of newcomers: Here are the games that hosted the newcomers that our readers liked the most

Updated: And the results are in! You can see how EventHubs' readers voted after the jump.

Earlier: There's one particular thing that's almost never missing when a new fighting game comes along, and that is new characters joining the cast.

Sometimes they become a huge hit, and instantly rise to fan favorite status, and sometimes they fizzle out completely and are forgotten within months of release.

With that in mind, I thought that it'd be fun to check with our readers which game they think delivered the best set of new characters from the new releases we've seen for the last few years.

Some current games use the business model of continuing to add things to a game that's currently out, for example Dead or Alive 5, so we've decided to include all the new cast members under the Dead or Alive 5 banner in their entry.

But don't worry, you don't have to do all the research yourselves - we've compiled a list below for each franchise included in the poll, to give you a quick reminder of what you'd be voting for. Check it out.

Now, let's get to the exciting part - to the vote!
