Update: This story has been updated with final results.

Absolute Battle is back, and as always, it's taking place in Texas.

This event is a big deal for Street Fighter 5 and Tekken 7, since it's part of both the Capcom Pro Tour and the Tekken World Tour, but it's an even bigger deal for Injustice 2, for which it is a Premier Event in the Injustice 2 Pro Series.

Wii U, King of Fighters 14, BlazBlue: Central Fiction, Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2, Killer Instinct and Pokkén Tournament.

Black Manta Injustice 2 gameplay reveal

Recently, we saw the reveal of characters for Fighter Pack #2. The characters revealed were Black Manta, Raiden from Mortal Kombat, and Hellboy.

For those that don't already know, Black Manta is an enemy of Aquaman. He tends to use his alien-like suit for combat. He uses lasers, rockets, a harpoon, and a jetpack for fighting in-game.

It has been stated that Black Manta will be releasing in September. Deluxe pack owners will receive the character early as usual.

Previously, Black Manta was just a element of a stage transition. This is similar to how Martian Manhunter was a background character in a stage back in the first Injustice game.

His gameplay looks to be very "setup heavy." He is able to fire off missiles that from above similar to Sektor from the Mortal Kombat series. Assuming this isn't a move that is only available while using gear, he can also use this attack while in the air.

It also appears that he is able to just outright fly. This gives him an insane amount of of mobility. His approaches may be difficult for grounded opponents.

Here's a look at his super:

Black Manta is the first character of Injustice 2's Fighter Pack 2 that we'll be seeing. Today, we get our first look at him in-game.

NetherRealm Studios Creative Director Ed Boon tweeted out a screenshot of the new character in action. The image shows Manta firing a large eye beam at Swamp Thing.

Whether this is a special move, his character power, or something else is unclear right now. However, we will be seeing an official gameplay reveal that will have the answers we seek very soon.

On Sunday, August 27th, fans will get to see Black Manta in motion. You can catch the action on NetherRealm at 4 p.m. PDT.

Along with Black Manta, Mortal Kombat's Raiden, and Hell Boy are joining the Injustice 2 fight. These three fighters make up Fighter Pack 2, and we will see Black Manta released to Pack 2 holders and those who purchased the Ultimate Edition on September 12th.

Hellboy, Black Manta and Raiden join Injustice 2 in upcoming Fighter Pack 2

Updated 8:32 a.m. PDT, Wed August 23, 2017: At Gamescom 2017, after an exhibition set between Steve Aoki and Don Diablo, NetherRealm Studios unveiled the next three fighters that will be coming to Injustice 2.

The Injustice 2 Ultimate Edition and the Injustice 2 Ultimate Pack include a total of nine playable characters; three Premiere Skins that transform select fighters into alternate characters with new looks, voices and dialogue; and two exclusive new Gear Shaders that enable players to customize the look of their roster with alternate color themes.

You can purchase the Ultimate Edition for $99.99 on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Players who have already purchased the standard edition of the game can get all of the same content in the Injustice 2 Ultimate Pack for $39.99.

SonicFox shows off a Captain Cold sequence that drains 100% of a life bar while freezing four times

FOX|SonicFox is a player that is known for playing a variety of characters in Injustice 2. Recently, he's been freezing over the competition with Captain Cold.

Every time that SonicFox messes with this character, we get a glimpse at some rather frightening tech. A lot of people's eyes have been opened up to what this character is capable of.

Recently, he posted on Twitter a rather interesting sequence that took away 100% of Superman's life bar. While all of it wasn't a true combo, it doesn't appear as though it can be escaped very easily.

What makes this clip especially fun is the fact that the training dummy was frozen multiple times. Four freezes in total.

There was even a moment where SonicFox left the opponent frozen while inside of a frost field. Standing next to the frozen opponent, he then just charged his trait.

When the opponent was able to break out of the frozen status, they were immediately frozen again without any interaction from Captain Cold. This only makes up two out of four of the freezes.

There are plenty of highlights to get through, and these are by no means an exhaustive collection of all the strong plays the event had to offer, so let's get started.

As we know, SonicFox has been showing his exceptional character knowledge by playing multiple fighters in tournament. Summer Jam XI was no different.

When up against teammate Scar, Sonic Fox's Captain Cold laid down some outstanding mix ups. Scar showed he is no slouch either by answering back with lethal corner offense from his Supergirl.

Injustice 2 has a 'What are you standing up for?' moment, NuckleDu flexes his Capcom Cup 2017 training and more - Summer Jam day 2 highlights

Day two of Summer Jam Summer Jam XI recently wrapped, but we captured some of the hype moments that happened, in case you missed the action.

The qualifying matches that happened at the end of the day for Injustice 2 and Tekken 7 definitely brought a lot of energy, as players would either survive to fight it out during Sunday's finals, or have to watch from the sidelines.

We start with DF|Grr's Bane vs. PG|Hayatei's Robin. This was a competitive set, and Grr was stocked with a super and waiting for Hayatei to do an unsafe move he could punish.

Once the super landed, Hayatei appeared to have given up, despite Grr's protests that he was still alive. Hayatei even stood up, started to desync his controller and walk away, but he actually managed to survive the sequence, albeit with just a few pixels left of life, facing a character who's extremely difficult to stop when he has you in chip range.

This moment echoed back to Wolfkrone vs. Ricki Ortiz's "What are you standing up for?" segment clear back in the Street Fighter 4 days, although a bit in reverse, as Hayatei prematurely assumed he'd lost.

The next highlight focuses on another top 8 qualifying match between Nashi and VS|Pokchop, where you can clearly hear the hype in the commentary team's voices, and see it first hand as the winner celebrates the outcome.

Starfire's ability to cancel any special into her trait complements her zoning and combo game - Injustice 2 breakdown and info

It was announced during today's Starfire stream that the Starfire multiverse mission will be coming out tomorrow, August 8th. Anybody who purchased the Fighter Pack 1, the Deluxe Edition of the game, or the Ultimate Edition of the game will also be able to play Starfire.

There's no word on when the character will release for the rest of us that didn't make any of these purchases. More than likely, it will be a week later.

In regards to the character herself, she is described as being a very beginner friendly character. Despite this, it is also noted that she has a number of intricacies that should appeal to some of the more hardcore players too.

She is definitely looking like she'll be among one of the game's more powerful zoning characters based on looking at how her moves work. A number of ranged options are available.

When the Twitch chat heard that she would be a beginner's character, many were displeased that the flashiness of her combos would suffer as a result. Well, it certainly appears as though she has a unique combo option that we'll see throughout the highlights...

First off, in case you forgot, here is her super once again.

Should Injustice 2's interactables be banned from tournaments? Have they been toned down enough since the original Injustice?

Interactables is a mechanic that was introduced in the first Injustice game. Since then, they've appeared in Mortal Kombat X and Injustice 2.

In Injustice 1, this gameplay mechanic was not a popular one for me personally. The main reason behind this was because they were all unblockable.

It was a rather tiring experience to be knocked down three times in quick succession thanks to unblockable interacterables. These scenarios would result in gigantic chunks of life disappearing.

While they were sometimes avoidable, this wasn't always the case. If, for example, you didn't have enough meter to armor through the attack, then you were probably taking a hit since they took up too much space on the screen to jump over.

Luckily for me, it feels as though things were toned down for Mortal Kombat X and Injustice 2.

SonicFox cools off the competition with his Captain Cold, Biohazard pseudo OTGs for 640 damage, and more - Viennality 2017 Injustice 2 highlights

The Injustice 2 tournament at Viennality 2017 has now come to an end. Plenty of fun and interesting moments occurred over the course of this event.

As a result of these moments, we have highlights worth sharing. While most of these highlights come from the top 8 portion of the bracket, there is one that occurred just before that point.

Our first highlight looks at the match between Aris|Nivek and Biohazard. Nivek was using Supergirl while Biohazard was running with Bane.

Nivek was doing a pretty good job of applying the pressure on Biohazard. He made sure to keep him in the corner by utilizing a teleport ender for his combo.

Unfortunately for Nivek, his efforts were undone by a wake up Bane Bomb. Since it was meter burned, they switched sides; now Nivek was in the corner.

Two reads later, Biohazard was able to finish off Nivek's last health bar.
