What's going to be the first true large-scale next gen fighting game on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X?

The next generation of gaming consoles have technically been available for over two months now, even though no one can find a PlayStation5 or Xbox Series X, which means the next age of fighting games will soon be upon us.

Problem is, it doesn't look like there have been any big next gen-only fighters announced yet, but we can probably figure out who the most likely candidates for the first step into the new frontier are.

Arc System Works producer comments on strength of Guilty Gear Strive's rollback netcode, will include online training mode

Guilty Gear Strive saw some new information hit the stage earlier this week with a trailer showing off the various modes that'll be available upon release, and now there's even more details to sink our teeth into.

The official website for the upcoming fighting game has also seen some updates detailing its online modes while an Arc System Works producer also commented on some of the internal tests they've performed with its rollback netcode.

Guilty Gear Strive's newest vampire takes a quick snack break to prove that he's not just a stoic samurai

Nagoriyuki's character remained a mystery for a full year after his initial tease in the Guilty Gear Strive reveal, and while his full trailer appeared to show him as this cool, stoic vampire samurai, there's obviously more than meets the eye.

As with the other characters on the roster, Arc System Works is showcasing some of Nagoriyuki's personality with animation clips from Strive including that he apparently likes to snack in between trading blows — and not just on blood either.

The bare-chested pretty boy Anji Mito decided to sit out of the roster for Guilty Gear Xrd for all of these years, but his pecks are soon going to make their return in the glory of 3D models.

Update: Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R's GGPO rollback netcode patch is now live for everyone on PC

Update: Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R's rollback netcode patch has reached its final form for now, as the update has officially rolled out for everyone playing on Steam. The game also added lobby and replay functionality plus some other quality of life changes that can be found in the patch notes. Now is a great time to pick up Accent Core too since the fighter is only $3 right now. Arc System Works' announcement of the launch has been added to the original story below.

Guilty Gear Strive will serve as the first new entry in the franchise to include rollback netcode out of the box once it launches in 2021, but one of the older games has now beat it to the punch in terms of being first overall.

The limited-time open beta for Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus R's GGPO rollback netcode test is now available to try out on PC through Steam though there's a few steps you'll need to take to access it.

Guilty Gear characters drawn by Yohane will make your day better right away

We're excited to share with you today a Guilty Gear character gallery from an artist by the name of Yohane. The fighting game community was very much looking to getting its hands on Guilty Gear Strive this year, but understandable setbacks during the chaos incarnate that was 2020 have delayed it until 2021. We figured we'd pass a bit of the time with this gorgeous collection of these very beautiful and very intense characters.

The gallery kicks off with Jam and Faust striking action poses (for Faust, that's definitely an action pose) and enhanced by a common circular splash of accent colors surrounding them. We then get a bust of Dizzy (sans any of those cool accent colors) and move on to a much more ominous and darker-themed Sol Badguy.
