Southern Nevada Health District warns that those who attended EVO 2019 may have been exposed to the measles

It's common enough to come back from an event with some kind of bug or virus that the community has come up with a handful of play on words disease names for yearly fighting game majors, and it's possible that this year's "EVOla" will manifest with measles symptoms.

The Southern Nevada Health District issued a bulletin on Thursday stating that a single case of the measles has been confirmed and that the infected individual was present at various locations around the Mandalay Bay and Luxor hotels from Aug 1-6.

Leah 'Gllty' Hayes banned indefinitely from Capcom events for violating player code of conduct

Capcom has just announced the ban of professional Street Fighter player Leah "Gllty" Hayes from their events following recent violations of their player code of conduct. The ban will be in effect for any Capcom owned and/or operated events, and will stay in place until further notice.

Over the course of the week, several members of the fighting game community have come forward to share their stories of harassment and sexual assault. Among the people mentioned was Hayes, who took to Twitter herself to admit to some of her wrongdoings.

Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft will be required to disclose loot box odds on products that use them soon

Loot boxes in video games have seen an increase in popularity in recent times as downloadable content, frequent updates, and free-to-play models have become staples in the industry. Being able to slap down your cash for a chance at scoring exclusive items, colors, costumes, and the like is an enticing concept, but with their implementation also quickly comes concern.

When it comes to using real money for loot boxes, things can get dicey very quickly, and gaming companies continue to try and put policies into place that benefit everyone involved. The Entertainment Software Association (ESA) recently announced that three major companies — Nintendo, Microsoft, and Sony — have all committed to new policies that require them to divulge loot box odds on any products that use them going forward.

PlayStation 4 reportedly becomes the fastest selling console to reach 100 million units shipped while Nintendo Switch sales try to keep pace

Sony's PlayStation 4 has been the biggest place to find and run fighting games this generation, and it's still on pace to go down as one of the best-selling consoles of all time according to their latest sales data.

As of June 30, 2019, the PS4 shipped an additional 3.2 million units bringing its lifetime worldwide sales above 100 million in total reportedly even faster than the previous consoles to reach that mark.

On the official EVO Twitter and EVO website, information regarding the schedule and commentators have been revealed for one of the largest fighting game events of the year.

We are already aware of the EVO 2019 finals game order.

Soul Calibur 6 will play out on Friday, Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st], Dragon Ball FighterZ, Samurai Shodown, and Mortal Kombat 11 will conclude on Saturday, while BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle, Street Fighter 5, Tekken 7, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate will finish off the event on Sunday.

The thousands of fighting game players preparing to make the yearly pilgrimage to Las Vegas to compete in the Evolution Championship Series (Aug 2-4) will likely be sharing the Strip with hundreds of thousands of swarming pallid-winged grasshoppers.
