We've known for a little while now that Mai Shiranui, a very popular King of Fighters character, will be eventually playable in Dead or Alive 5: Last Round.

This is coming straight from Famitsu, which details the character and highlights a few of her moves in DOA.

It appears as though Mai has a number of her trade mark moves that can be performed with traditional motions. Below you'll see some official screen shots of Mai in the DOA universe:

Mai Shiranui from KoF being added to Dead or Alive 5: Last Round roster, Attack on Titan costumes and stage also set to be released

In a surprise move at today's Dead or Alive Festival, Koei Tecmo announced new Dead or Alive 5: Last Round content, and I don't think anyone was expecting this.

At the event, they first announced that they'd be doing collaborations including the highly popular manga and anime series Attack on Titan, featuring costumes for the game's characters based on the series, as well as a new stage featuring one of the series' signature titans.

But more than that, they also announced that they've been collaborating with SNK, and are bringing King of Fighters postergirl Mai Shiranui into the game. While Koei Tecmo aren't strangers to fighting game crossovers, with their game already featuring 4 guests from Virtua Fighter, this is still a pretty unexpected move. Here are some images.

'Big surprise' planned for Dead or Alive 5 in the future, says Team Ninja boss Yosuke Hayashi

In a recent issue of Famitsu, there was a spread focusing on Koei Tecmo and their upcoming projects.

Yosuke Hayashi of Team Ninja, who are subsidiary of Koei Tecmo, was also present, and left a small tidbit regarding the Dead or Alive franchise. And by small, we mean small. He noted, without going into detail, that there's a "big surprise" in the works for Dead or Alive 5.

Since he specified Dead or Alive 5 rather than the entire series, it seems safe to assume that it's not a sequel. With the incredible amount of post-launch support the title has already gotten, this would suggest that there may be good reason to start the signature ninja fighter up again in the near future.
