Nitara announced for Mortal Kombat 1 with Megan Fox as her voice actor
We're only about a week away from the early access release of Mortal Kombat 1, but that doesn't mean there isn't still some new stuff to show off.
NetherRealm Studios finally announced Nitara today as a playable character for Mortal Kombat 1, and Megan Fox is serving as her new voice actor for the game.
Back for her first playable outing since Mortal Kombat Armageddon, Nitara has finally returned to the roster for the first time in 17 years and sporting a fairly different design for MK1 missing her eye patch and dark hair.
The vampire still has her iconic wings intact though now she sports red hair and more of an ornate, demonic design to her armor.
"It's cool to be in the game," said Fox introducing her character. "Because I'm not really just voicing it. It'll be like she's kind of me... I think it's just an opportunity that anybody would want because we did all grow up playing the game, and it is one of the greatest video games of all time."
Although much of the trailer focuses on the cinematics and Fox, we do get to see some of Nitara's gameplay here that of course seems to include some flight combos.
They also show her placing some sort of blood seal on the ground that causes her to glow red and obviously give her a buff that may also activate after drinking the opponent's blood though we'll have to wait a bit more to see how it all actually works.
She is looking like a character that wants to get in your face and claw it out with her extending talons while also being a rare MK fighter who essentially seems to have an air dash.
Since she's shown fighting against Ashrah in the Story cutscene, it unsurprisingly looks like Nitara is going to be fighting alongside the "villain" team in Mortal Kombat 1 including Havik and General Shao.
Megan Fox marks the second game in a row now where NRS has brought in a celebrity to voice a non-guest character after Ronda Rousey appeared in Mortal Kombat 11 as Sonya Blade's voice actor.
The previous announcements for MK1 featured General Shao and Sindel as playable fighters plus Motaro and Shujinko as Kameos though it seems they still aren't done with the reveals yet.
Mortal Kombat 1 is slated for a September 19 release date on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC, but players can start going in on the game beginning September 14 for those who pre-order the Premium or Kollector's Editions of the game.
