When the man himself, Ed Boon, gives you kudos for your creative takes on Mortal Kombat characters, you know you've made something special. That was the case for New York-based artist Kendo Messiah, who has recently started on an endeavor to draw Mortal Kombat characters into classic animated Disney films.

Thus far Kendo has eight different kombatants (if you include the brilliant use of the game's dragon logo as Mushu) but we're very much excited to see him continue to grow this particular part of his portfolio. Continue on to see his work thus far.

Things kick off with franchise poster boy Liu Kang posing as Li Shang from 1998's Mulan. A handful of the subjects here come from the same film, as the aforementioned logo as well as Raiden also imitate characters from it.

Next up Johnny Cage fills in as a double for Hercules from the 1997 film of the same name. He retains Hercules' orange locks, but the shades and the humble "Johnny" chest tattoo are more than enough to turn that godly aura into that perfect blend of cockiness and charisma.

Sonya Blade becomes a bit of a bad guy as she takes over for Lieutenant Helga Katrina Sinclair in the 2001 film Atlantis. Though she's not as evil as Helga, Sonya's rough and "no BS" personality lines up quite well with her counterpart's here.

Another villain pops up in the subsequent image, this time from 1999's Tarzan as Kano becomes the evil poacher Clayton. This one matches up quite nicely in terms of personality, as we all know Kano wouldn't hesitate to kill endangered animals for a second if meant a payday.

Check out all of these and more in the full gallery here. Can you tell where the other images are from? Share your answers (as well as your favorites) in the comments below and be sure to follow the artist on Twitter to see if he produces any more of these in the future.
