Many of us here probably have some really good memories of playing the Dragon Ball Z Budokai and Tenkaichi games back on the PlayStation 2, and it sounds like a new entry in the series is on the way after more than a decade.

Bandai Namco announced today during the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour that a brand new Dragon Ball Budokai Tenkaichi title is now in development via a teaser trailer.

Although the video begins showing off footage from the old games on a CRT, giving off the impression this could just be an HD remake / remaster, it seems fans are going to be treated to a brand new entry with Goku revealed to be transforming into his Super Saiayn Blue state.

There is no official title, launch platforms or even launch window revealed yet for the new Budokai Tenkaichi, and the Bandai Namco representative stated the project is still in the early stages of development.

The last mainline entry in the Budokai Tenkaichi series came all the way back in 2007, and a lot's changed in the Dragon Ball franchise over those past 16 years.

Spike (now Spike Chunsoft) were the original developers of the Budokai Tenkaichi games, but there's no mention of them in the trailer. Plus they haven't worked on a Dragon Ball Z game since the Kinect title, so it may well be developed in-house at Bandai Namco.
