If you keep kicking Mortal Kombat: Deception's final boss over and over he'll complain at you with a secret voice line
Video game developers have been known to leave secrets and mysteries unsolved within their games for fans to find on their own, and when it comes to fighting games, I don't think anyone does that better than NetherRealm Studios and the folks behind the Mortal Kombat series. Even from the very beginning, series co-creator Ed Boon and the team behind the franchise did things like hiding a special boss fight with Reptile in the very first Mortal Kombat title.
While Reptile's first appearance isn't much of a well kept secret anymore, other Mortal Kombat titles hold other, lesser known surprises for fans to discover. One that you might not have heard of can be found in Mortal Kombat Deception, and you can find it by, well... kicking the game's final boss over and over again.
Now, how anyone found this is beyond me, but content creator BruskPoet originally uploaded a video showing this secret in action. Prominent Mortal Kombat commentator and content creator PND Mustard recently shared the clip on Twitter as a means of providing fans with an interesting tidbit about the 2004 Mortal Kombat title — which is where we spotted it.
As explained by Mustard, when fighting Onaga, the Dragon King — Deception's final boss — if the player decides to excessively kick the large beast, the game's main baddie will get fairly upset. He gets so upset, in fact, that he'll roar a complaint at you specifically about your kicking.
"NO MORE KICKING!" Onaga roars when he's had enough. From the looks of it, it takes around 12 successfully landed kicks to get Onaga to rage at you.
I'm not sure why the developers went ahead and added this unique voice line in for this situation specifically. Perhaps they thought it would be funny, or maybe they just wanted to discourage players from spamming kicks. Maybe Onaga just hates kicking. Whatever the reason may be, check out this Mortal Kombat Easter egg below.
