Kitana and Mileena's combined Mortal Kombat 4 ending looks unbelievable in this recreated Unreal Engine 5 cutscene
Back in late 2020, we highlighted the amazing work of Darko Subotin. This individual has recreated several Mortal Kombat 4 endings in HD using Unreal Engine 4.
With the upgrades offered by Unreal Engine 5 (released April 2022), Darko Subotin has recently released another video that shows what Mortal Kombat 4's cutscenes would look like with modern graphics. Needless to say, the combined ending cutscene for Kitana and Mileena's Mortal Kombat 4 endings looks absolutely incredible.
While enjoying a beautiful view, Kitana is suddenly approached by Mileena. It seems that Mileena believes herself to be the rightful princess of Edenia, not Kitana.
However, Kitana points out to Mileena that she actually has no right to the throne as she was created by Shang Tsung's sorcery. By this point, the Unreal Engine 5 cutscene applies a few creative differences.
For one, Mileena's mask actually comes off during this version of the scene, which really shows off her Tarkatan nature. Honestly, it's a bit jarring to see a mouth moving within a mouth, but Mileena's unmasked appearance is sort of meant to be jarring like this.
Instead of knocking Kitana into the throne, Mileena actually pushes Kitana towards a pit. In Mortal Kombat 4 originally, this pit was only revealed by Kitana pressing a secret switch on her Edenian throne.
Though Mileena initially appears victorious, Kitana is able to turn the tables against her. Check out the video below to see how things unfold in this unbelievable fan creation:
