NetherRealm Studios has been incredibly quiet on the front of their next project, and while we understand that they are very likely taking all of the care and extra work they need to before revealing it, the Mortal Kombat fans in us are burning to see what's next.

While we don't know for sure that a Mortal Kombat 12 is in the works, there have been several hints to suggest it, and the potential of another installment in the legendary fighting game franchise makes us further appreciate the work fans continue to do with Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate. Seeing the latest beautiful digital photos of MK11's Sub-Zero and Scorpion from TQT has us screaming for an MK12, but until we get an official reveal, artistic pieces like the ones we have here today will certainly tide us over.

TQT released fresh batches of images this week featuring the two most popular and most iconic characters the Mortal Kombat series has to offer. As you might have expected based on this story's banner, the fire and ice ninjas look absolutely fantastic in these digital photographs.

The Scorpion we see in these photos is truly menacing. This fiery warrior wears a darker ninja garb that is lined and accented with gold, while also rocking the "Grandmaster's Godai Mask" which sees his traditional face mask swapped out for one that looks more demonic with gnashing teeth protruding from it.

While the close up stills of this alternate costume are highly detailed and incredible, it's the action shots like Scorpion swinging his flaming sword that are simply outstanding. The fluidity of the slash can be seen so well here, with the fire effects and particles really helping create an elegant and beautiful piece.

Sub-Zero also has a handful of these action shots, and TQT did an excellent job of capturing the might of the kombatant's trademark ice powers here. These photos also portray one of the fighter's actions, which can be seen by following the images in order. Sub-Zero poses for the fight, loads his hands with icy powers, then unleashes a powerful ground attack.

We can only hope that NetherRealm Studios will reveal Mortal Kombat 12 (or whichever game they're currently working on) soon. Until then, be sure to look over and enjoy TQT's fantastic Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate screenshots, and be sure to head over to their Twitter for even more amazing images.
