Anila announced for Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising
Today, the CyGames Cup Special 2023 was happening and as promised, there was an announcement for Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising at the event.
The first character revealed for the game's sequel was Anila, the sheep-themed Zodiac who was raised as a possibility, but not our main prediction in a speculation piece regarding the new character's identity.
Although no gameplay footage was shared of Anila, it was stated that the next trailer will be shown on March 4th, so in about a week, which will likely show off what Anila has to offer as a combatant.
Until then, we got a quick description of her which mentions that she's an all-rounder character who fights with a polearm and comes equipped projectiles, anti-airs and rush-down attacks.
During the presentation, the game's director Tetsuya Fukuhara mentioned that while this may make her sound like she's just a basic character like Gran, she actually has a lot of moves to get in and that there'll be a lot for experienced and more hardcore players to explore with her as well.
Basically described as an "easy to learn but hard to master" character, look forward to seeing more of Anila when we presumably get to see her gameplay on March 4th.
Seeing as Anila is a character who in the source game Granblue Fantasy is packed full with various fighting game references already, even possessing a finishing move reminiscent of Terry Bogard's iconic Buster Wolf, there'll surely be a lot to enjoy once we get a closer look at her.
There was also further detailing on the new systems coming to Granblue Fantasy Versus, with slides explaining the gameplay direction of Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising as well as the new mechanics Dash Attack and New Triple Attack which you can find below.
