Mortal Kombat 11 Easter egg remained a secret for nearly 4 years despite hints from developers

The klassic Midway age of Mortal Kombat is fondly remembered for the surprisingly large amount of cryptic secrets and Easter eggs hidden throughout the titles, and it's nice to see that sentiment hasn't been lost in the NetherRealm Studios era.

After nearly 4 years since Mortal Kombat 11 first launched, a fun new Easter egg was finally discovered by MK content creator Waz that had been hinted at by a developer almost 3 years ago.

Back in October 2020, NRS senior designer Aaron Davis shared out a tweet that got the MK community secret hunting but coming up empty-handed.

According to Davis, there was something he hid in MK11 that remained undiscovered with his only hints being that it could be performed within a match and has been there since day 1.

This obviously wasn't much to go on, but flash forward to 2023 and Davis came back to reveal an MK community member had DMed him the secret discovery and that it had something to do with a special Erron Black animation.

Waz would then share a short video explaining the Easter egg being a special animation the gunner can perform when winning a round by holding up on the controller while he's flipping his coin.

Instead of putting it back in his pocket, Erron Black tosses it at the opponent, and he even has a secret voice line for the interaction.

"Keep the change."

It may be a small thing but still neat to see after all this time, and knowing the developers, there's probably more secrets hiding in the recent Mortal Kombat games that they haven't been as kind to share a hint for, yet.
