Rooflemonger discusses how Kotal Kahn was hilariously done dirty in Mortal Kombat X and Mortal Kombat 11

Kotal Kahn is one of the new characters that has turned up in recent Mortal Kombat titles. Without really revealing anything about his personality when he was first revealed for Mortal Kombat X, there was a lot said about the character that had "Kahn" in his name considering Shao Kahn's reputation.

However, it's fair to say that Kotal Kahn did not really live up to this reputation. In one of Rooflemonger's latest videos, it's discussed how Kotal Kahn was effectively turned into one of the biggest "jobbers" in Mortal Kombat history.

For me personally, I felt my awe and respect for Kotal Kahn immediately plummet during the events of Kung Jin's story in Mortal Kombat X. Despite being the Shao Kahn replacement, Kotal Kahn was humbled in a rather silly way following a fight against Kung Jin.

As pointed out by Rooflemonger, things end up getting worse for Kotal Kahn as time went on. Funnily enough, Kotal Kahn even had a Fatality performed against him by Jacqui Briggs during his own reveal trailer for Mortal Kombat 11.

One thing that has stuck out to me about Kotal Kahn that didn't even get referenced by Rooflemonger was the interaction between him and D'Vorah during the events of Mortal Kombat 11. If not for Jade, Kotal Kahn would've received the same treatment that was received by Mileena at the hands of D'Vorah during the events of Mortal Kombat X. The fight between Kotal Kahn and D'Vorah wasn't even a close one.

Truthfully, this mostly tends to be a big problem with Mortal Kombat's style of story telling. Typically, we see that a character only gets to look good if it's their chapter within a story that NetherRealm Studios is attempting to tell. Any character that attempts to fight someone when it isn't their chapter is destined to lose, and badly.
