Here's the first look at Street Fighter 6: Type Arcade's cabinets

Street Fighter's legacy with the arcade scene dates back farther than most video game franchises have existed, and while the experience isn't as widespread as it once was, Capcom is still keeping to those roots moving forward.

The Japan Amusement Expo 2023 this weekend offered up the public's first chance to see Street Fighter 6: Type Arcade and its cabinet that players will soon find themselves sitting down at.

Photos of the machine from the JAEPO show off that SF6 will likely be looking very similar to Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition using the Taito Type X4 hardware, which the new game appears to be running on too.

Unless Capcom is paying for some upgraded parts, this means that Street Fighter 6: Type Arcade will more closely resemble the PlayStation 4 version of the game rather than the PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S.

Outside of the case color being changed to a shade of orange to match SF6's logo, the cabinet itself appears nearly identical to SF5's too, including the USB port that allows players to plug in their own controllers if they don't want to use the built-in stick.

Considering this is just a demonstration cabinet, however, it may continue to undergo more changes before release.

It's not confirmed, but it seems this SF6 demo only features the same 8 characters from the first 2 closed beta tests since the arcade display only contained the move sets for Ryu, Luke, Chun-Li, Ken, Guile, Kimberly, Juri and Jamie.

As was previously reported, Taito also showcased a special exhibition SF6 set between pro players BC|Kazunoko and CO|Dogura at the JAEPO, which presumably also unveiled the first gameplay footage of Type Arcade too.

Unfortunately, the official Taito broadcast archive appears to cut out just before the Street Fighter 6 segment, so we've been unable to find said footage from the event yet.

With an apparent ban of outside photography and video-taking at the machines, finding decent footage from event attendees may also be tough.

There's a good chance the Kazunoko vs. Dogura set will be uploaded as an individual feature, and we'll keep our eyes out for that popping up.

Street Fighter 6: Type Arcade is planned for a 2023 release in Japan while the home version of the fighting game is coming June 2 to PS4, PS5, Xbox and PC.
