Mortal Kombat 1 is an absolutely gorgeous game. The latest generation's hardware has lent itself nicely to the graphics style of the Mortal Kombat franchise, with character models and effects looking better than ever.

Beyond the fighters, though, fans have taken notice of MK1's backdrops over the last few months. The stages you do battle on are truly spectacular to see, and the Mortal Kombat Twitter account has begun sharing close up screenshots of these battlefields that allow fans to take a closer look at these amazing new environments.

By this point, we have seen quite a few of the stages that Mortal Kombat 1 has to offer. Over the last week, however, the MK Twitter page has shared out images of six of the playable backdrops that provide an up-close look at some of the finer details found in the backgrounds.

The six stages included in these screenshots are The Fire Temple, The Tea House, Living Forest, Corrupted Forest, Hanging Gardens, and Shang Tsung's Lab. As seen in the screenshots, each one specifies whether it is the day or night version, with both options being shown, but only one highlighted.

Essentially, fans can likely look forward to day and night iterations of each stage, which almost doubles the amount of stages available based on how different some of these alternate versions are.

"Modest and welcoming, the laboratory paints Shang Tsung as he wishes to be seen: a kind and good-hearted sorcerer," reads the description of Shang Tsung's lab stage. "Choose to fight during the break of day or under the haze of a gray overcast."

While many of the stages we've seen so far are brand new backdrops, nods to classic stages like Mortal Kombat 2's Living Forest are also present here. The Corrupted Forest features spooky trees with demonic faces on them, and I'm willing to wager that they just might eat you if you get too close.
