Looks like guest character Kameos are going to be a thing in Mortal Kombat 1

The Kameo Fighter system is the biggest shakeup to the Mortal Kombat formula in the NetherRealm Studios era of the series, and there's still some things we don't know about them for the full game.

Thanks to some reportedly new marketing materials coming out of Brazil, we've learned some new details about Kameo Fighters in Mortal Kombat 1, including the apparent existence of guest characters as assists.

According to the screenshots posted to Reddit and translated by user jamiegorevan and reposted to Twitter by thethiny, guest character Kameos are basically confirmed to exist, but that's not all.

NetherRealm already announced that there will be Kameo DLC characters, but now we also know there will be skin variants for said Kameos, exclusive Fatalities and future content as "part of the post-launch kampaign" for MK1.

Since this is just basically some quick bullet points, it's unclear if this means there will be guest characters that'll show up exclusively as Kameos or if it will just include assist versions of the upcoming DLC characters.

It's safe to assume MK1 Kameos will probably feature Omni-Man, Homelander and Peacemaker from Kombat Pack 1, but it would be cool to see additional characters show up as assists from Invincible, The Boys, Suicide Squad or other properties too.

We likely won't learn more about that though until the game launches.

That's not all we've learned about MK1, as Ed Boon recently confirmed that John Cena will be voicing Peacemaker in the fighting game though he would not confirm the same with Antony Starr as Homelander.

There's also the MK1 previews, which showed off the beginning of the game's new Story Mode as well as the brand new Invasion Mode taking the place of the Krypt.

And of course, there was the big trailer at Gamescom 2023 last week that revealed General Shao and Sindel as fighters for MK1 alongside Motaro and Shujinko as Kameos.

Although we're just a few weeks away from Mortal Kombat 1's release on September 19, it looks like there's still more to learn about what's in the box and coming in the future beyond launch.
