Here's when you can pre-download Street Fighter 6 and how much hard drive space you're gonna need on PlayStation and Xbox

The clock is ticking down to the inevitable release of Street Fighter 6, but for too many of us, that countdown can't end soon enough.

Now that we're less than 2 months away from the big launch, it seems we finally know when we can pre-load the full game as well as how much hard drive space SF6 is going to take up.

Those who've pre-ordered Street Fighter 6 digitally will apparently be able to download the game starting on May 31, 2023 according to Twisted Voxel.

This date is only confirmed for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 at the moment as far as we can tell, but the timing will likely be consistent across all / most platforms.

According to the Xbox store page for SF6 now, the game is listed as being around 50 GB in approximate install size, which is about the same as the Steam page that says it'll require about 60 GB.

For anyone who's played other Capcom titles using the RE Engine as of late, that size seems to be about right, and hopefully we won't be forced to essentially re-download the game every time it gets an update like Street Fighter 5 (although that game did use the Unreal Engine 4 which caused the issue).

Interestingly, the full game isn't much larger than the SF6 Closed Beta application that sat around 42 GB, so most of the contents are likely there, just locked away from players of course.

Although they've already announced all of the launch characters already, Capcom is going to be hosting a special Street Fighter 6 Showcase on April 20 where they promise 'big news and announcements.'

We've already seen a new Kimberly costume teased for the event, but there is a lot of hope that SF6 will receive one more chance to play the game before launch via another open or closed beta test, which would presumably be revealed at the showcase.

Street Fighter 6 is still set to release on June 2 on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, PS4 and PC via Steam, and with pre-load available digital players will be able to start their journey as soon as the clock strikes midnight.
