Street Fighter 6's full launch roster revealed
During the Street Fighter 6 Special Program at Tokyo Game Show 2022, Capcom unveiled the full launch roster for the game. Though we don't have gameplay for each of these fighters, official artwork for every one of them is featured in the World Tour opening cinematic — which was shown during the broadcast.
Street Fighter 6 will have a launch roster of 18 characters.
The launch roster consists of Luke, Jamie, Manon, Kimberly, Marisa, Lily, JP, Juri, Dee Jay, Cammy, Ryu, E. Honda, Blanka, Guile, Ken, Chun-Li, Zangief, and Dhalsim.
Prior to this reveal, 11 characters were unveiled. Ryu, Chun-Li, Jamie, Luke, Guile, Juri, Kimberly, Ken, Dhalsim, E. Honda, and Blanka were all announced before today's stream.
This means seven new fighters have been revealed today. Manon, Marisa, Lily, JP, Dee Jay, Cammy, and Zangief have all been officially shown off today for the first time.
The World Tour opening features a narrator talking about strength and the will to fight all while graffiti style art pieces of different fighters are shown. All 18 world warriors make an appearance, and we get a closer look at each of the seven newly revealed characters with their artwork.
Zangief can be seen lifting a crazy amount of weight, while Dee Jay sits by a car with the stereo blasting. Newcomer JP has long hair and a large beard and mustache combo, and Marisa looks strong as they flex for the camera.
Now that all of these fighters have been revealed, we'll have to wait for their official gameplay trailers as we lead up to launch. This also confirms the launch cast, meaning anyone else shown before release day will likely be DLC.
Street Fighter 6's launch cast number sits in between Street Fighter 4's and Street Fighter 5's. When it first dropped, SF4 featured 25 fighters (some of which needed to be unlocked), while Street Fighter 5 hit store shelves with 16 playable combatants.
There are currently no details on how large the Street Fighter 6 roster will ultimately become or road maps for DLC, but with Street Fighter 4 ending up with 44 fighters and Street Fighter 5 having 45 world warriors to choose from, we can only hope SF6 will hit around the same number.
