Black Dahlia is slated to be the next character to join Skullgirls' roster. A new trailer showcasing Black Dahlia's gameplay was recently released.

Though the developers are clearly showcasing an incomplete version of this upcoming challenger by doing this, it gives fans an early look at how she'll play. Additionally, Skullgirls on Steam provided some additional details on how Black Dahlia functions during gameplay.

One of Black Dahlia's main gimmicks is her grenade launcher gun-arm. Many of her specials will fire off a slow moving explosive round that explodes upon contact.

During the trailer, it's even shown that Black Dahlia is able to fire off a grenade upwards so that it eventually arcs back downwards. Needless to say, this fighter can create some deadly frame traps using this method.

It's even demonstrated that Black Dahlia can utilize this upwards grenade launcher shot to combo after an instant overhead jump attack if used with precise timing.

However, there are some caveats that players will need to be aware of. For one, this projectile doesn't have full-screen reach. This means that it must be used from mid-range distance.

Additionally, Black Dahlia's gun-arm will only hold six rounds. After firing all six shots, she'll need to reload before being able to fire again.

On the Steam page, it's also been revealed that Black Dahlia will also be able to load special ammo with different properties from her classic shots. Of course, it doesn't appear that this feature will be ready for Black Dahlia's first alpha test.

Aside from her grenade launcher arm, it's also noted that this character will have access to tricky movement options. One of these options includes her unique "Onslaught" jump that has her leaping towards the opponent with an attack. Onslaught can apparently be used both while grounded and airborne.

Steam Season 1 Pass owners will get an opportunity to play the alpha version of Black Dahlia sometime in June. An early access beta test is slated for Q3 2022 while her full release is scheduled to happen Q4 2022.
