Tekken 7's Kazuya and Heihachi to be represented in Virtua Fighter 5... as alternate costumes for Akira and Lau

Virtua Fighter 5: Ultimate Showdown, a rerelease for the PlayStation 4, was only made available just last year. While there weren't any new characters added to the game, new Yakuza-themed costumes and music were later added back in December.

Earlier today, we learned what which series Virtua Fighter 5 will be collaborating with next. According to Mark "MarkMan" Julio, it was announced at the Virtua Fighter Esports Challenge Cup Finals that the next collaboration will be with Bandai Namco's Tekken series. Unfortunately, this isn't the type of collaboration where Kazuya and Heihachi finally become playable characters with their own unique move lists in Virtua Fighter.

Some time into the trailer, we see a fight break out between Tekken's Kazuya and Heihachi. Of course, not all is at it seems.

By looking at the health bars, we can clearly see that this is actually a match between Virtua Fighter's Akira Yuki against Lau Chan. This effectively means that Kazuya and Heihachi are just alternate costumes for Akira and Lau respectively.

Of course, we also see the battle take place on the Mishima Dojo, a stage in Tekken 7. This means that there will also be Tekken stages and Tekken music added to Virtua Fighter 5 via the collaboration.
