Captain Commando will return to Marvel vs. Capcom after 22 years in this rad new UMvC3 mod

Although Captain Commando was created to be Capcom's mascot in the early '90s, the rad futuristic soldier has been essentially M.I.A. for the past two decades, but there's fans now willing to take matters into their own hands.

A modder going by the name of CaliKingz01 recently revealed they are working to bring Captain Commando back into the crossover world of Marvel vs. Capcom via a new mod for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3.

The often overlooked and short-lived icon looks fantastic and accurate to his old 2D self, which likely uses Nash's crossover costume from Street Fighter 5 for a base.

Like the Juri UMVC3 mod we recently got a sneak peek at, however, Captain Commando is not ready to hit the battlefield yet, as he's still very much a work in progress.

CaliKingz01 has gotten to the point of having the mod running as a character skin over Chris Redfield, but he doesn't really have a custom moveset running yet.

While Captain Commando could never really stand up to the top tiers of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 in a solo battle like Storm and Magneto, his assists and Hyper Combos are still among the coolest and most iconic in the series' history, and fans would certainly get hype as hell to see a Captain Corridor in UMvC3.

The work is being done to hopefully make that a reality at some point although some things might be tricky since UMVC3 modders can now import custom models but not animations.

You can follow Captain Commando's fan development on CaliKingz01's Twitter, and we'll be sure to let you all know when you can go hands on.
