Crono joins Super Smash Bros. Ultimate via beautiful mod, and yes... there's a Kirby transformation for him
Now that we see it, we're somewhat surprised that Masahiro Sakurai and his team never ended up inviting Crono (the main character from the 1995 Super Nintendo hit, Chrono Trigger) into the 80+ character Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster.
An incredibly gifted modder by the name of PikPM has gone ahead and made this happen, sort of, by creating an absolutely Smash-perfect skin that makes Hero look exactly like Crono.
Those who aren't the most familiar with Smash Ultimate could easily mistake this mod for one of the game's actual characters, as Pik's skills shine obviously through and make this character look as though he was developed for Smash by Nintendo.
Since Crono is only a skin, he retains most all of Hero's moves. That said, PikPM did create alternate colors as did they alter the animation of one particular attack to make it look like one of Crono's trademark maneuvers.
"I made an edit turning Hero's 'Magic Burst' attack into Crono's Luminaire tech, changing its color to a teal green explosion," says Pik. "However, the spell name remains the same in his RPG menu to avoid confusion for Hero players."
We've collected a handful of screen shots (there are even more on the mod page linked above) so you can see what this fan made version of Crono in Smash looks like.
Also, fans have proven that one of the most exciting parts of a new character joining Smash is finding out what Kirby's transformation looks like when he assimilates them. PikPM went the extra mile and was sure to create a Crono version of Kirby as well.
Check out the gallery below and if you'd like to download this for your Nintendo Switch and implement it into your own Super Smash Bros. Ultimate experience at home (always be careful when altering your software with downloads from the internet) you can find directions to do so here on PikPM's mod page.
