There are plenty of examples of fighting games that never left the Japanese arcades over the past few decades, but now one of those titles will be coming home.

3goo made the surprise announcement today that The Rumble Fish and its sequel are set to be released on consoles after The Rumble Fish 2 had remained an arcade exclusive for 17 years.

As first reported by Famitsu, the fighting games first created under Sammy and Dimps will not only be coming to home systems, but this will mark the first time either title will see release outside of Japan too since they confirmed a worldwide launch for the Winter of 2022.

The Rumble Fish is notable for it being one of the first fighting games Dimps developed back in 2004 before moving on to work on projects like Street Fighter 4, Street Fighter X Tekken, Street Fighter 5, and Soul Calibur 6.

The Rumble Fish 2 features 6 new characters Sheryl, Mito, Bazoo, Lud, Hazama and Beatrice on top of the 10 fighters available in the first game, as well as an expansion of its unique Offense and Defense power gauges for more usage alongside the added Boost Dive system.

No mention is made as to which systems this special Rumble Fish package will be releasing on later this year, but it's probably a safe bet to assume that the PlayStation 4 is the most likely followed by PC and the Nintendo Switch.

The first game did see release onto the PlayStation 2 back in 2005, but many fans believed the series would likely never see the light of day again due to its limited notoriety outside of Japan.

Unfortunately, no mention is made of the bundle including rollback netcode, but we can certainly hope so for a "new" title being released in 2022.
