Get ready, Juri is coming soon to Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 with a new mod of Street Fighter's bad girl in the works

As it should have been a decade ago

Marvel vs. Capcom 3 added C. Viper to the roster as Street Fighter 4's representative at the time, but there was another newcomer who fans wanted to see just as much if not more, which will soon hopefully be rectified thanks to dedicated fans.

MarrowOchi just took everyone by surprised when she revealed she is working on a new mod for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 to bring Juri into the game.

The teaser trailer released with the announcement gives a brief glimpse at the SF bad girl's intro and idle stance though there is no gameplay included with the clip.

That's because MarrowOchi makes clear to state Juri is still an early work in progress, so we shouldn't go crapping our pants just yet.

According to the modder, her normals, intro, UI, character select portrait and crouch are all functional though they still need further testing and polish (along with the rest of her kit), so she's still a ways away from being ready for the public.

Juri's design is that of her original SF4 appearance although the character model itself may be pulled from Street Fighter 5.

This exciting work wouldn't have really been possible just a month ago, as UMVC3 modders were forced to deal with the limitation that they couldn't inject any new models or assets to the game.

Previous mods were impressively created by re-using and repurposing existing characters to craft something new in creative ways like we've seen with another wanted Street Fighter inclusion with Urien.

That all changed just a week or two, however, with programmer TGE finally releasing their UMvC3 Model Importer tool after reportedly 900 hours worth of work to get it in the hands of the modding community.

The upcoming Juri mod is something of a collaboration with MarrowOchi also giving credit to programmer/modder/data-miner Lean for getting the model to actually work in the game.

Juri's move set should be a great fit for the Versus series, especially if they manage to combine her SF4 and SF5 tools to give her spin kicks, rekkas, a dive kick and however crazy the Feng Shui Engine can get in something like Marvel.

You can find future updates on the Juri mod's development on MarrowOchi's Twitter.
