Update: This story has been updated with additional information and screenshots.

Fans of the one and only Baiken had to wait years upon years to get their hands on her in the Guilty Gear Xrd games, but that line is much shorter this time around.

Arc System Works dropped the official gameplay reveal trailer for Baiken in Guilty Gear Strive, which shows off what she can do in the new entry for the first time.

While it's easily confirmed Baiken still comes packing some of her old moves like Youzansen and Tatami Gaeshi, it appears she'll be packing some new tricks up her sleeve including an attack that physically tethers the opponent to the samurai.

The developers' approach to her return seems to make her more of an offensive threat by replacing Baiken's parry / guard cancel with a new counter that slams the enemy into the dirt.

As revealed by the end of the trailer, Baiken will be available to play later this week for Season Pass 1 holders on Friday, January 28, while those looking to pick her up separately will need to wait a few days longer until Jan. 31.

Baiken's arrival also marks the first new stage to hit Strive since launch with the Lap of the Kami battlegrounds, which is included in the Season Pass 1 or will be available individually.

Baiken first appeared as a secret character in the original Guilty Gear, but it wasn't until the next entries where fans would learn she is a survivor of the Japanese colony who lost her arm and eye as well as her parents to a Gear attack as a child.

She's vowed to exact revenge on "That Man", whom she holds responsible for the destruction of everything she once cared for, and we now know she's after Happy Chaos, not Asuka.

Interestingly, Baiken mentions Bedman's mysterious sister Delilah in her first teaser trailer but doesn't appear to be present here, so perhaps we'll learn more in the upcoming story expansion for Strive.

The one-armed samurai brings Strive's DLC character count to 4 with 1 more to go for the first season, and ArcSys have already confirmed they'll have more announcements in March.
