Dee Jay, JP, Manon, and Marisa revealed for Street Fighter 6 in new gameplay trailer
During The Game Awards 2022, Capcom made their latest Street Fighter 6 announcement. A new trailer was shown that featured our first in-game look at Dee Jay, JP, Manon, and Marisa.
Not only did we get to see gameplay for these four roster members, but also a handful of new stages. Continue on to see all the exciting new details.
New World Tour Mode Content
The trailer kicks off with a new look at an old favorite as Dee Jay and his Jamaican party stage are shown. True to the character's story, we see Dee Jay hosting a musical event while the World Tour avatar character watches amid a rowdy crowd.
From there we're treated to new footage of World Tour Mode as we see said avatar doing battle in Metro City. This time, however, Ryu hops into the battle for what looks to be a 2v2 mode where you call in the "Masters" of World Tour to help you fight.
World Tour also looks to feature a handful of bonus mini games as we observe the character participating in bottle chopping, board breaking, food preparing, and some familiar basketball parrying.
We then zip to Italy to see a quick snippet of brand new fighter Marisa, who appears to have a Colosseum stage where she does battle with a full grown lion before we zip away to visit Manon in France. We see her in two different attires as she and her dancers put on a quick show for us.
Finally, we cut to an undisclosed rooftop location where the presumable new bad guy, JP, offers a brief monologue and showcases what very well might be Psycho Power. His statement "He was obsessed, you see. With finding an appropriate vessel for this power," certainly sounds like a callback to the franchise's most notable big boss.
New Characters
Next up is gameplay footage of all four new characters. JP takes control of the entire map from all angles. He uses Departure, placing a void of power in the air, which can then be turned into thorns or can be used to teleport him to its location. JP can also send out clones from across the screen with Torbalan or Embrace to keep his opponents in check. Interdiction is JP’s Level 3 Super Art where he sends destructive power flowing through his opponent’s veins before they explode from within.
Marisa appears to be a brawling gladiator who can charge some of her attacks. It looks as though she has a counter maneuver for striking attacks, a massive punch attack that looks like it has a follow up punch with a cinematic property to it, an uppercut into a downward punch that bounces opponents off the ground, and a forward kick that's reminiscent of Gill's Quarrel Kick.
Dee Jay retains his trademark moves that will get you in the rhythm such as Air Slasher, Double Rolling Sobat, Machine Gun Upper, and Jackknife Maximum, while adding new moves like Jus Cool and Weekend Pleasure to his arsenal. Dee Jay’s Level 3 Super Art is Weekend Pleasure, a barrage of punches reminiscent of his Ultra Combo 2 in Ultra Street Fighter 4.
Manon’s move set is a graceful union between judo grappling and classical ballet. The elegant Manège Doré and Renversé are grabs that will increase Manon’s medal level upon successful completion. The higher her medal level, the more each grab’s properties will change. Manon performs the Pas de Deux in her Level 3 Super Art as if her opponent is her dance partner before smashing them into the ground for a standing ovation.
Release date, Editions, and Pre-Orders
Just yesterday, a listing on the PlayStation 5 store seemed to leak the game's release date. The June 2, 2023 launch was further corroborated by several Amazon pre-order listings that surfaced and provided details on the game's various purchase options.
Hard details on all of this have now been released by Capcom. June 2 is indeed the release date for Street Fighter 6, and players will have three editions from which to choose:
• Standard Edition ($59.99; Physical/Digital) – Includes the base game of Fighting Ground, World Tour, Battle Hub, and the 18-character launch roster
• Deluxe Edition ($84.99; Physical/Digital) – Includes the base game and the Year 1 Character Pass (containing four characters), colors 3-10 for each of those Year 1 characters’ Outfit 1, and a bonus of 4,200 Drive Tickets for in-game purchases
• Ultimate Edition ($104.99; Digital) – Includes the base game and the Year 1 Ultimate Pass, which contains content from the Year 1 Character Pass, two additional costumes and their alternate colors for the four Year 1 characters, two more stages, and a bonus of 7,700 Drive Tickets
Pre-orders are now available, and those who do so will receive alternate colors for Chun-Li, Jamie, Manon, Dee Jay, Juri, and Ken’s Outfit 1, while PlayStation® 5 and PlayStation® 4 digital pre-orders will also receive exclusive items like 18 in-game Special Titles and 18 Stickers featuring unique art from the launch roster to personalize their profile.
