New spectator and more beta mode revealed for Arcade 1Up Killer Instinct cabinets
After a few days of waiting on a mysterious countdown, video game developer Code Mystics has revealed some new features for the Arcade 1Up Killer Instinct cabinet.
Code Mystics' KI Spectating (and more) Beta will allow users to track their online stats in both of the KI titles the KI A1U cab offers (Killer Instinct, Killer Instinct 2) and will allow for players to spectate and queue for matches, along with a few other new perks.
This is a little on the unofficial side of things as Arcade 1Up has not directly produced any of this update, but rather has allowed developer Code Mystics to do so as a passion project.
Those with a KI 1Up cabinet can opt into the beta and begin to enjoy this handful of new online features. First off, players will have a bit more netplay organization as they'll be able to queue up for battles and spectate while they're not the ones playing.
Users will now have the option to toggle on a win/loss display so they and others can see how any given session is going. An additional feature allows winners to decide whether or not to continue playing the same person, or kick them to the back of the line.
Most all of these features can be toggled on or off to match user preferences, and those who do not opt into the beta will still be able to match up against those who do (just without all the fancy new bells and whistles, obviously). To learn how to download the beta to your cabinet, utilize each feature, and more, head on over to Code Mystics' newly revealed page.
