Who where the most popular Tekken 7 and Guilty Gear Strive characters at VSFighting X?
VSFighting X served as a major stop at both the Tekken World Tour and Arc World Tour this weekend, which of course means that many of the strongest players from around the world flew to the United Kingdom to try and score some big points.
We previously took a look at which characters were the most popular among top finishers for DNF Duel and The King of Fighters 15 at the event, and we're about to take an even deeper dive into the 2 premier fighting games there, Tekken 7 and Guilty Gear Strive.
Considering this will be the last major to not use Tekken 7's latest balance update, it's interesting to see how the current state of the game is closing out.
Out of the top 32 players, Law ended up being used the most with 3 people maining him although the highest anyone reached was Gosain at 9th.
Beyond that, the character spread for the upper bracket was actually pretty darn diverse.
There were 25 fighters who saw play, and 22 of them were mains too.
Even the top 8 only had 1 repeating character in Feng (unsurprisingly), and while there was some usual mainstays like Fate|Arslan Ash's Zafina, Akuma and Geese, we also got to see some rarer sights including Bob and Miguel.
Guilty Gear Strive found itself in a similar situation to Tekken where Nagoriyuki was the most popular pick of top 32, but SYG|Jetstream was the one to take him the farthest as a main at 9th place.
Instead, we got to see a healthy heaping of 3 different Zato-1's there as well as 2 Sols, which while Mr. Badguy was very prevalent in this type of position last year, has not shown quite the same gas since Season 2 started.
Ky, Leo and Axl players also had themselves a good weekend in terms of representation as well as more Millias than we're used to seeing.
There were 15 characters total among the upper bracket competitors here, and that even includes Baiken and Testament.
