There's always a unique lesson that can be taken away from every fighting game in regards to the act of jumping. In most traditional fighting games, it's generally not possible to block or perform other defensive measures during a jump. With these fighting games, jumping is intended to be a high risk, high reward maneuver.

NetherRealm Studios' Mortal Kombat 9, Mortal Kombat X, and Mortal Kombat 10 are among the fighting games where players are able to perform anti-airs without the fear of something like airborne blocking or parrying. A recent video upload from TrueUnderDawgGaming recently highlighted some of the nastiest anti-airs present in the latest three Mortal Kombat entries.

TrueUnderDawgGaming is adamant that these particular anti-airs are so good that other characters are effectively banned from jumping against them. Considering who he chose, it's difficult to argue against him.

In Mortal Kombat 9, Cyrax's appropriately named "Anti-Air" is a special that behaves as a ground-to-air command grab. Though this doesn't actually lead to much damage for Cyrax, it's an attack that starts up in just 9 frames and is invincible to jumping attacks.

As for Triborg's Smoke variation, the character actually utilizes a normal instead of a special. Just one look at the move is enough to tell anyone that this kick is intended specifically for anti-airing those who like to jump. What makes this move especially scary is how Smoke is able to easily pick up a combo after swatting somebody out of the air.
